i just bought a 1980 CJ5 stock, i am starting a restore and trying to choose interior, i want some black leather seats but do not want to pay a fortune for them what is a good car or truck that i could posiblay get some seats out of that would be a good fit... can anyone help lol
83 CJ7 350 tbi, TH350, D300 twin sticked & clocked, narrowed Chief D44 Eaton Elocker & Moser shafts, Explorer 8.8 Detroit locker, 410's, RE 4.5" spring lift 1" body lift, 35" Claws, cage tied to frame, Corbeau baja seats, HD tie rod and draglink, u-bolts flipped, custom skid plate and sliders, Warn 9.5ti winch with Amsteel synthetic line
If you want direct bolt-in or only want to do very simple mods, I think your choices are going to be Limited when it comes to leather seat swaps. I contemplated Mazda Miata seats (which are available in leather) and some came with a speaker integrated into the headrest. I didn't find a donor though. Watch out for seats that are too deep, too wide, or sit too tall. I just replaced my seats with vinyl Bestop Trailmax II - they sit a bit high but I like them.
i went with Summit racing that had a sale at the time...if i can remember right with discount of sale they were $100 each......beats any moldy junkyard seats that i found
1979 cj7 258 with a t-150 3 speed, 31x 10.50's but soon to be 33's . Stock all the way around for the most part. UPDATE : Now have my Goodyear 33's on it and it looks great !
I swapped in a set of seats from a 98 mustang and they mounted up fairly easy. I will say however they are a bit tall but I liked that aspect and it was only a temp fix since I want lowbacks for it. I paid $75 for the pair so I thought it was a good band-aid lol.
What ever you get be sure to check the steering wheel to belly clearance
Whhen I got my CJ5 it had Porsche seats and I had to remount and get a smaller steering wheel. But I have fat guy syndrome
yea i know how you feel my last CJ5 had explorer seats in it and while driving there was hardly no leg room and the pasengerside was even worse i am not gonna go that route again i will prolly just order me some seats i have found some around 100 to 120...
