60 cj5 289 Ford, Warn overdrive. Completely rust free. Lifetime garaged rig.
I just purchased a 60 CJ5 . I have spent hours going over this machine. Cannot find a rust spot or repair. It was a garage kept Arizona ride. The only mods are a small block ford transplant, Warn Overdrive and a rollbarr. So giving the condition of the tub would it be better to go back to the factory powerplant. Any idea what its worth?

Sounds pristine. It would be nice to go back to the original engine but if the engine if running good I would just drive and enjoy your jeep as is.
That's just my opinion but it's your jeep. It all depends on what you want to do with it.

Ya I was thinkin that (at least for now). Newcomer to the jeep but always been a classic American iron guy. As far as my other rides go u have always been a purest.

Most likely your CJ cam with the 4-134 Huricane motor whitch is good for about 50mph when fresh, sure you could spend abunch of money to get it back to original but would cost you more than you could ever recover from an investment standpoint. If it's a nice repower job I would enjoy it as is and be happy it has the pony motor in it.:driving:

 We need photos!

I'd keep it as-is and enjoy the power of the Ford engine. It sounds almost like my dream ride.

Working out of town. I'll post some good picks this weekend. I picked it up for two thousand. He threw in a jeep heater with it. (not installed) one of those with the heatercore and built-in fans. Only thing I can find wrong is the electric choke isn't hooked up and a leaky front wheel cylinder which I scored at the local parts house for nineteen bucks. Will be needing a top. Any ideas on the best one to go with.
