In trying to explain the nutter bypass to a co- worker I told him that by doing the bypass that he was faking the computer out and all the wires he needed hooked up were the coil wires and distributor plug? Is this right? He is saying that the other sensors still need plugged up to run. He has the 2100 conversion on his AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l like mine.
Is this a legitimate answer?

I have a 1984 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , with 2100. I have the nutter bipass and I have NO sensors hooked up at all. The engine bay has been stripped of all sensors. I also have swapped over to 8 mm wires and gapped my plugs at 45. My jeep will run on its side without failure.
I will be changing to HEI, like I have done on about 12 other motors.

The Nutter is REMOVING the computer. Nuttering makes it a pre 83 igniton system.

If you take the computer harness and work back from the connector removing all the wire, you will have more wire on the ground than is left in the CJ.

Here is a diagram. Ignition (Some Mods)

And this explains all the "Under Hood" stuff. Table of Contents

Thanks for the replies and the diagram. I printed it off and will show him this weekend.

Man, you guys have all the answers. :D
