Oil in coolant...

Have a buddy question. He has a Jeep with a 4.0 in it. Has some oil in the coolant. Haven't see it first hand but is this likely a head gasket issue? There does not seem to be coolant in the oil, just oil in coolant.

I suppose it could perhaps be Transmission fluid in the coolant though as well though correct?

4.0s are known for having a lean tune from the factory which causes them to run a little hotter. I would suspect a cracked head as well. I see it all the time... Especially if they've run over temp a few times. If he goes to remove the head send it to a machine shop to get it cracked checked unless you can see it.

Not my Jeep... But no milky streaks. No rainbows. No engine or cooling work of any kind.

What the jeeps history?
When was the last time the coolant was changed or tested?
