1978 CJ7 AMC 304 V8 with the GM Turbo 400 and quadra trac. Converted to part time and has low range. After much research, I use ATF in the converted Transfer Case , as it seems that this is what mile marker reccomended with their kit.
I recently replaced the gasket between the Transfer Case and Transmission , as well the associated seals.
Newest issue is that there has been an ongoing leak from the case gasket on the quadra trac. Now, on two occasions, I have found the passenger side drop of the rear end covered in ATF, so that when the Jeep is parked, the AFT drips to the floor beneath the rear end.
My suspicion is that the skid plate beneath the quadra trac fills with ATF from the leak, and then it blows back to the rear end. However, it would seem that the fluid must have some velocity behind it to get there so this may be unlikely. There are few drips around the pan on the GM Turbo 400 as well. Maybe it is shooting out with pressure?
Anybody ever seen this ? Any suggestions?
I have attached a few photos for reference. I'm stumped.
