Question after Nutter Bypass Complete

I did the Nutter Bypass today on the 86 CJ7 . I ended up with a relay that looks to have the big ignition wire teed off the main line connected to the relay and a red/white wire going to the started solenoid. I cut the other two wires going to the relay. Can I just connect the red and red/white together and take out the relay now since the other two wires have been removed?
Then there is this four or five way plug still wired into harness, I disconnected the other end and discarded. What was this for and can I just cut it out to make it look cleaner without the plug just hanging there?
Next I have a HEI distributor to install but wanted to do the bypass first to remove all the old wiring.
Then I have a Motorcraft 2100 carb coming from Gronk Performance to install.

The relay is for your choke/manifold heater. You need to do a little splicing to get it back to operating. Looks like you need to fix the wire going to the coolant temp sender as well (looks like it was cut half way?)
The six pin connector can go away, but the red wire is part of the relay. Tells the manifold heater when to shut off. It runs to the relay.

Thanks, I will get the relay wired back up. There for awhile it was like a birds nest of wires and i got carried away. I saw the coolant temp wire was frayed and need to fix that. I have a mechanical gauge but still don't need open wires. Good observation and thanks again.
