Question on Body mounts.

In trying to remove these, of course I broke some and got maybe two out. I was ondering, when the bolt breaks. Were is it breaking? I can't see how it looks ontop of the mount. So is there a nut that sits ontop of the frame or is the frame threaded and that is where it breaks?

I'm trying to get a better understanding on where I need to drill or cut the bolts out.

Here's what they look like. It's a square nut captured in a metal cage to allow movement for alignment.

So is the nut stripping? Or breaking?

The bolt is more than likely rusted and snapped. Or it could be stripped. Pa shows a nice photo. The nut is captured by a cage of sheet metal. The nut floats within the cage. You might consider running the bolt all the way through.

Pretty tough to drill and retap the floating nut.

The bolt must likely will snap off at varying lengths. All mine but 2 broke. I was able to weld a nut onto most of them and after applying some heat, spin them out. But like the one in the pic, which is the ones under the bed, I had to cut both of those out. I made new ones for those.

But if your just spinning and it's not getting looser, it's cage probably rusted enough that it will no longer hold the nut from turning. You could try drilling a small hole nearby so you can insert a small screwdriver or something to block the nut from turning within it's confines. Which specific nut is it because that won't work for them all and you may need to cut an access hole to repair the nut and cage.

For instance here's the one under the seat area. The floor is cut away at the traverse support but it's right where the floor would dip down for the front floor area. This one distorted some but held enough for me to get the broken stud out. But had it left loose, cutting an access thru the floor would be the only way to get in there, as it's totally enclosed. It is welded to the traverse support that crosses the Transmission . tunnel.

I cut into them and welded them down ...
