Rebuild or Jasper..

Rebuild or Jasper..
The quote is parts, assembly, gaskets, rings, seals, bearing, balanced and blue printed... everything.. i'll have to bring them the motor.

Im on the fence about doing the work myself, I want it done at the end of may, going on a road trip to yellowstone then to WA. and down the coast. I understand that building my own would be an ideal way to go but i know my limitations. when i retire.... I'll have all the time in the world to rebuild my motors but for now i want to job done right.

iv been saving for this two years and i dont have any "oopps i fugde'd up money" My pride won't be hurt if i have this built. :D

:)
So $2400 to do everything you mentioned above and before and the motor is assembled? And all you have to do is pull it , deliver it and put it back in?

The $2400 is a fair price........for all what your getting above.......I get machine work done all the time and buy hard parts.......and it gets expensive quickly.
The only thing I can say is there are good machinist out there and also just average machinist..........make sure you pick the competent one.

:D:D:D:D

Sure, the last one I did was over 10 years ago and they were on Federal just north of HWY36. That motor has over 100,000 miles on it now.

Nick the place mtnwhlr was referring to is Spitfire engine. They are at 6231 Beach St # C, Denver, CO 80221. I was in there a while back, shop looked clean. They quoted me a price of about $8000 to pull rebuild an reinstall. nice guys talked to me for a while. I think he said they would do just the rebuild for around 4000. The feeling I got from them is that they are more of a race engine builder. I think for me I'm just going to end up getting a remanned long block from C.B. Collins Bros. They list them for $1500.

Thanks for the quick response. he is the information i have just an FYI.
Aces' auto engine supply. 3k for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l rebuild if they pull it and reinstall. Reviews on this shop vary.
Ace’s Auto Engine Supply - Home

Edge water jeep gets good reviews.
prices start around 4 k if they do all the work but they use Jasper motors.
Edgewater Jeep // Denver, CO // 303-477-8766

all american 4x4 rebuilds your motor starting at 4k.
pretty good reviews but a couple of terrible ones.

if you want to do the tear out and install the block shop was 800 for machining and 600 for the master rebuild kit. so 1400 ish.

I am going to look into C.B. Collins Bros.
thanks

FYI-Collins Bros. is very 'proud' of anything/everything they sell. ;)

Sorry guys my computer has been down.

I ended up putting some magic rotella sauce ya know for the zinc:cool: adjusted the free play, full tune-up, slapped the MM hubs on, new freeze out plugs and she runs like bat outta hell.

she still ticks a bit im just going to runn the motor until it melts down, however i did almost sell her for a 79' malibu 383/4speed 9in/posi...

No worries, my little ginger CJ is bangin 6 hard and leakin in the drive with 206k... :chug:

Just get a V8 size can of Restore, and add that to the engine oil.
Everything will quite down. Trust me on this--------
Good to hear the good news. :chug:
