Hey all,
I finally got around to getting my dream car “CJ7 ” I had a tj earlier in life and always wanted a Sunday cruiser. Any way, I found a pretty unmolested CJ7 in CA, I just got it off the delivery truck yesterday and noticed it has all the smog equipment. Since I live in WA, I plan on removing everything SMOG related. I’d welcome any advice on the best way to go about doing this.

I would make sure to save everything you take off in case you need to put it back on. Take lots of pics too. Might be hard to find some of those parts years later if you need to reinstall for whatever reason.

Leave the charcoal canister and EGR systems intact. They don't cost anything performance wise, and actually help where it's needed. Or you can send them to me if it's a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .

KEEP everydangthing you remove.

Thanks for all the great advice! I’m definately keeping everything! Just in case. It looks like it’s way to much hassle to remove the canister and EGR, and I agree it doesn’t hurt anything. I don't have an ECM which is nice, so it looks like just the air pump and catalytic converter are coming off for now. I’m goin to maintain all the extra hoses and stock air cleaner as well.
