Wow Jon, you are becoming a regular Ngangkari. :D Thanks for the input...going to keep it the same height and just replace bushings all round. Team Rush upgrade here soon and that should do it for a bit. (yeah right)

Ok, I MAY confess to being a mechanic .... maybe ... many years ago ....

Started my Team Rush upgrade today and run into my first snag. The 6A is set up for an 8 cylinders. For 6 cylinders it says to cut one of the loop wires, but not which one. I suspect it wouldn't matter, but maybe it does. Before I go cutting I want to be sure. There is a blue one and a red one (see pic 1) Any help would be appreciated. The second pic is all that I bought for the upgrade...

Ok...back under the hood.

It looks like Santa popped over and left you some things !!
Christmas all over again !!

Looks like standard bomb defusal ... Cut the red wire,... or cut the blue wire :D
Either way, keen to see how it all pans out !!
Now get back to the garage !!

Seeing that you were complaining that I was slacking, I thought I would get this done. ;). What is taking the longest is cutting the plug wires and threading the rubber boots.

Well, got everything done but hooking up the A6. Here are the old advance springs, and then new ones. New rotor next to old one. Distro adaptor and new Distributor cap.

New MSD "vibrator" Coil and new plugs and wires. I need to pick up some rubber grommets, lock washers and longer bolts to bolt down the A6 tomorrow and hook up.

Looks like you are getting there. Great build. Thank you for sharing.

When I did mine on the 85 I had I didnt go as far. I just did the wires, cap, rotor, plugs and a upgraded coil. I never added in the MSD 6A. Let me know what you think of it. I'll probably go with the whole deal this time around. Nice job!

I figured I would do the while nine yards while I was under the hood. So far it's coming together...we will see when I fire it up. Moved snow all day yesterday and we are getting more today, so not sure I will get the A6 attached and connected. Did get the plugs gapped and everything else tightened and ready..went with .045 on the gap...I know it's the low end of what Dave recommend...but wanted to err on the side of caution. I can always play with it later and open them to .050.

Thanks...sorry no pro-bono...like I always say...if ya wanna see me naked you gotta pay like everyone else. :D

Yeah, yeah...it's all your fault I am juicing up this thing. ;)

Um no comment on the above 2 quotes. :D

I went up to .050 and brought it back down to .045 without the A6. Id start just where you decided but odds are good your gonna open it up a bit with the A6. :chug:

Gap dem plugs out, and IGNITE THAT THING UP !!! :D :D :D

Well, still having problems with getting it to run with the upgrade. Not sure what the problem is...I just can't get it to run. It will turn and almost will catch, but no joy. The other problem is I have had so little time to work on things I can't get it narrowed down. I will be skipping out of work today just to figure this out and plan on calling MSD to see if I am missing anything. Worse case is I disconnect the A6 and hook up the old system which I left intact, get it running smoothly and then reconnect step by step. Will keep you posted.

Great news!!! Got the beast running...no purring. :D I called the guys at MSD and they had me run a couple of things (arc the green and purple wires, check voltage) then said the unit must be bad, send it back. (Really weren't much help.) Well, I know it worked once, so I went back and unattached every connection and then reattached everything being careful to make sure everything was tight. Turned the switch and it cranked right up. Was running a bit rough, so I got out the timing light and the timing mark was nowhere to be seen. Continued to turn the distro clockwise and after moving it quite a bit, I finally saw the mark just coming over the top...kept moving it until it hit the first marks and then moved it to 9 degrees BTDC. Took it for a test drive and it did great. Whew...Glad to have that project done and glad it came out working so well. I did leave the old system connections and just taped them up really well. I plan to carry a new stock coil in my spare parts bin, just in case on the trail the A6 dies, I can revert back to the old system just with a quick coil change and connecting the old coil cap.

I was a little concerned about the diode, as it is pretty easy to break. I got a plastic fork and cut the head off and used it to brace the diode (see pic) Don't worry, I double taped it after the pic was taken.

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to BusaDave. It really helped having his expertise for this project and honestly I would never have attempted it without the help from him and others on this site.
