This won’t be for everybody but back in the ‘70’s you couldn’t just go out & buy roll cage padding... at least not that I know of. So what we did was find a suitable padding, often pipe insulation and wrap it with 2” wide black vinyl tape. Like electrical tape, but 2” wide. What we used most often was “Christy’s” brand tape.
I’m a purist when it comes to restoring old Jeeps so what I’ve been using the past few years is “pool noodles” and the exact same tape we had back in the 70s.
Pool noodles can be had at the dollar store for $1 each! Can’t beat that. The thickness and densityis perfect and they are weatherproof.
The tape I found at Lowes! Exact same stuff from “back in the day”. Functional with the exact look I need. Most of the Jeeps I restore are 72-75 CJ5 Renegades.
Hope that helps.

I didn’t think that the pool noodles were the right diameter, if they are that would be awesome, I want to wrap my bars myself and didn’t know where to get the padding from thx

"Pool Noodles" sounds like something to look into. Hopefully they would be more durable than pipe insulation. I have banged my head into them a few times.

Pool noodles aren’t exactly the right inside diameter. Cut one side lengthwise then slide it around the cage.
There will be a large gap. Cut a section out of a second “noodle” to fill the gap.
I use spray adhesive to hold everything in place until I’m far enough along to apply the tape.
If you want a more modern look, I’d still use the tape, but cover it with upholstery material to match your seats.

And if you end up in to deep of a water hole it will help you float. :)
