So the solenoid on my jeep smokes every time i crank it over and it wont start. the smoke is coming from the side that is connected to the battery. i have no idea why it is doing this does anyone know whats going on?

Well, the smoking is caused by heat from current draw.

A failing starter winding will draw too many amps and cause the cable and the solenoid to fry. There may be another problem, but I'd check out the starter for that first.
