2013 Cherokee... Bone stock....
Some of you might have read my other thread about my old jeep that was in storage for 20 years. She runs and drives now. I keep it at my dads grass strip airport because there is a lift there and I can work underneath. Last weekend, I was cleaning some of the cobwebs out by taking a run down the runway, and nearing the end I noticed the stick shifter seemed to be "twisting" in place. I wiggled it some more, right when I had to downshift to slow down to make the corner, and the whole stick came off in my hand!
It's a T-4 . There is a square male shaft coming out of the Transmission , and the shifter has a square female socket with a metal clip inside. I tried bending the clip to get it to grab the grooves on the male part, but really didn't accomplish anything. So now I just know to hold down on the shifter if a big bump is impending. Anyone have any suggestions?
