ok guys and gals i need someone with a stock 6cly CJ7 to let me know how far from the fire wall your motor is. mine is about a fist width away and my fan is way to close to my radiator pics and hard measurements would be great but i can do with just some pics if you have them.

Thanks everyone

Ya I’m pretty sure your motor is supposed to be a lot closer to the firewall, it’s been awhile since I had one in mine

If you need another measurement or angle pm me...cheers

On my '86 with oem air cleaner and M.O.R.E. motor mounts, I get about and inch and a half. A critical factor is that the clutch bell crank should be perpendicular to the frame or as close to that as you can get. Otherwise there will be too much load on the outer pivot and it can break, and I have seen a few of those. Usually, as the oem motor mounts age and start to sag, the valve cover will get real close to the fire wall and upset that bell crank geometry. Tou could have an issue with the body being too far up on the frame, this can be adjusted also. A body lift can be a factor also.

Let me know if you still need help. Gonna be real busy at work for the next 3 weeks so PM me to make sure I see your request.
