Stupid Question - 304 Dipstick

OK. My engine plate ID's it as a 1974 AMC 304 . How long is the oil dipstick supposed to be? My "stock" one that came with it is 26". The Omix replacement (#17424.03) is only 17.5".

Can’t answer the question as far as the OEM length as I am away from my jeep to measure it but the length of the dip stick would correlate to how long the tube is. Maybe Omix sells a tube that is shorter than the OEM one that is made for their dip stick. Just a guess.

Glad someone posted this. I am missing one on my AMC 304 as well. I have the tube just no stick. Not sure why the PO would have taking it for his 401 but it's missing. I can't wait to start working finishing up my AMC 304 . House work has put the Cj project on the back burner for now...
