T15 transmission - Dana 300 transfer case

You would have to find an adaptor of some kind. NOVAK and Advanced Adaptors are a treasure of information. You've got to dig sometimes, but it's there.

Will a T-15 Transmission bolt up to a Dana 300 Transfer Case ? I plan to put my 304V8 out of my 72 CJ5 with the T-15 3 speed Transmission into my 86 CJ7 which has the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , T-5 Transmission and Dana 300 Transfer Case . I know the T-5 is not reccomended for the V8 so hoping the T-15 will work with Dana 300 . Thanks

The T-5 will bolt directly up to the AMC 304 with no adapters driveshafts clutches or anything and I think it will last til you find a Transmission you want to put behind your AMC 304 . something like an AX15 NV3550 NP435 that way you get to enjoy your Jeep while waiting to find the Transmission you want and only pay to swap transmissions once just my 2 cents

That's was my original plan, have read how the T-5 could not handle the V8. I will go that route and baby it until i find a more suitable Transmission . Thanks

Don't think so-IIRC, the T-5 has a shorter input shaft than the T-15 does.
You'll need the 6's b'housing.

I have the b'housing with the T-5 . Two complete running jeeps. One with 304V8 which is the donor and the other a 86 CJ7 with AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and T-5 Transmission which will get the V8. With that i should have all i need except passenger motor mount?

Kwel-Doesn't the 8 have both engine mounts and tranny mount?

When you have some time-We all would like to see some pictures of both setups.
No rush-;)

Hope the switch goes well.:chug:
Maybe you could post the goings on as this is done.

Here is the AMC 304 in the donor 72 CJ5

What a shame from the one pic you show the CJ5 looks clean. When you are doing your engine swap pull your distributor and check the cam gear and distributor gear for excessive wear. The cheap Chinese HEI conversion distributors vary in hardness on the gear and have been known to chew up the cam gear. If its a Davis HEI you should be good :chug: take some pics and share with us :D

Unfortunately the CJ5 has extensive rust in the body and frane. I purchased it with the intentions of bringing her back to life but reality started to make me realize i don't have the time to accompolish that. Found the CJ7 at a good price with the 6 cylinder. I have to have the V8 so between the two i can make my dream happen.
