I'm thinking I'm putting at176 and 302 in my CJ8 . At first it will probably be a stock engine but plan on either building that one up or building a more powerful 302 for it. I've heard the T-176 was good for about 300 lbft of torque so I may not get to build it up too much. I have 3.73 gears and most likely will have 31x10.5s. Have any of you guys broken a T-176 ? What are the weak links in them? Can you do anything about it to beef them up? The Jeep will see very little off road use so I don't want a heavy duty T-18 in there. I like to shift a little faster than that Transmission will allow.

The 176 is a good choice for your use.
Your right foot, will decide how long it will last.

I probably won't be in the market until the spring. Deer season now then snow season so not much is getting done or moved
