T4 front bearing retainer question

While struggling to get the seal out I noticed this gouge. Is this normal wear from the throwout bearing or is something not right. I guess I should buy a new retainer. I just want to make sure for when I install a new one.

I've never owned a T-4 , but it doesn't look like normal wear to me. What does the fork and TO bearing look like? Used retainers go for about $15-$20, new around $30-$40

They look fine to me I did not see anything abnormal
