Tf999??

New to jeeps but not wrenching. Have been trying to find out of the Transmission model and can only come down to a 904/999 and see no differences between the 2. It seems that most of the drivetrain is oem but the rear was swapped.

Should be the 999 with the Jeep having a 6 cyl. This link should have some good info that may help you.

Thats what I thought. have a buddy that worked for certified Transmission out here and swore that it has to be a 904 since that is all he worked on. What is the difference between the 2, is it strength or other options??

The 999 is supposed to be the heavier duty version and was used with the AMC 304 V8 and 6 cyl. The 904 was used with 4 clylinder iirc from the TSM.
The 999 can be built pretty stout, I've been running one behind my 401 for years.
