No, that's a long story of an uncle who is a frat class A-hole ..... suffice it to say it was never mentioned about being for sale until it was gone. I've approached the buyer and he claims he'll die off of it..... I thought hmmmmmm LOL

Not the first time I have heard about that, my wifes family lost an enormous dairy farm to the lawyers after their father died from them squabbling over who had what. Such a shame, maybe one day you can get it back in the family.

Honestly, with him being a gunsmith for so many years, I'd rather have several of the rifles he built. Land I can buy anywhere if I wanted it, but stuff he built is much harder to find.....

These range in birthdate from 1952 to 1979, the last one he built. The very bottom one he started on the action, then I brought home and finished it. Top is currently undergoing a stock refinish....

Thanky - the second from the top was his go to groundhog rifle - was always at the property that got away. I'd rather have the rifle. Still shoots like it always did.

Actually, neither. He started with a Winchester Highwall, stuck a straight taper bull bbl on it and stocked it in Birdseye Maple. It's chambered in 219 Donaldson Wasp - that's a 30-30 shell necked down to .22 cal. That one is dated Mar 1962. I also have the reloading dies as well as the forming dies with that one. Unfortunately, I've never taken it out yet to see what it will do.....

good God thats a lot of gun powder behind that bullet

Not as much as it sounds. Usually 6 - 10 grains of powder less than a 22-250, depending on bullet.

is that supposed to give the 22 more penetration? its already such a fast round I couldnt imagine adding more powder to it.

Not necessarily more penetration, being primarily a varmint round, the bullet will explosively fragment upon impact - but increasing velocity will translet to increased energy transferred to the target. An increase in velocity will also decrease travel time, lowering the effect of a crosswind. Down side is an increase in throats erosion, and approaching max velocity for a given cartridge will usually show decreased accuracy. I have a 220 Swift that approaches 4000 fps......

Well, didn't get the primer and paint done this week like I wanted to....... weather was not cooperating. When I had time it was crappy, and when I was at work it was gorgeous. I did get the hood, fenders, grille, windshield frame, and tailgate shot with primer. Still need to get the half doors sanded and ready for primer, and get all the primed stuff sanded and ready for color. Once again I was concentrating on the task at hand rather than pics, but here's a few after the fact:

The alteration of the fender looks nice now that it has a nice Evan coat of primer:
