Good deal. Now I have a plan......I had planned on putting black KC's there at some point - I'll throw these on to hold their place. Still think they'd make excellent aux backup lights...

Got the spare carrier installed today. It's bean ready to place for months, but I left it off so it wouldn't be in the way. The hinge kit I bought is basically a trailer axle spindle, piece of DOM tubing, bearings, an oil seal, and cap. Could have sourced all that myself, but I'm lazy. Anyway, set the carrier in place, dropped the upper bearing in, snugged it up with the castle nut and washer, shot it full of grease, and realized the cotter pin that came with the castle nut was NOT going to work.... the DOM is about a half inch above the cotter pin hole in the axle, and no way was that cotter pin gonna make it into that hole. So, I grabbed a piece of wire I hang stuff to be painted, put a slight bend in it, and shoved it thru. Once it was all the way thru I cut it and bent the end over. I figure even though the wire isn't as heavy as the cotter pin, there's no load on the pin, and the worst thing that could happen is the hinge might loosen up. Easy fix. By the way - the wire I used is really easy to use, it's cheap, and readily available...... I bought a box of insulation support wires - comes 100 to a box, and I've only used maybe 2/3's of the box. I've got em hangin all over they place. And they're plenty strong - hung the grill for painting with two of em.....

Those look interesting, I actually have bailing wire that I bought years ago to repair my fence with stuff works great as well but not as thick as those insulation rods

It’s raining this week, I seem to have a couple gauges that aren’t in as good a shape as I thought, so I’m a tad frustrated. So, as a stress reliever, I piddled with the gear shift knobs this afternoon. I had tried using dry transfer letters for the shift pattern, but being black on walnut, they all but disappeared. Didn’t wanna use white, or silver, so I Put em in the back burner till I got a nugget of inspiration. Well, I got a nugget. I ordered a set of insert for the aftermarket knobs, but was a bit apprehensive that they might be too stark. Not to worry.....

Scuffed the back a bit to make sure the epoxy bites..... and once it sets, I’ll run a small fillet around the insert. The recess I had to cut by had - not perfectly round, but at this stage of the game - it’s good enough.

Now that I have taken a better look, I see blemishes. Make another set and sell me those 2nds.

Great work, they are Gorgeous........

Now I have to throw my brand new omix ada junk in the trash and make me some shifter knobs out of wood
