Build Thread The '80 FrankenJeep frame off reassembly

Build Thread The '80 FrankenJeep frame off reassembly
Since the rain finished up last night, today was hard top install day. Got the soft top and hardware off, removed the front windshield bars and security box - now it really looks like a CJ

Put new foam around the bottom edge, new rubber in the corners and along the top edge of the windshield - that made it wanna sit about a foot too tall. Ok, maybe not a foot - but it seemed like it. Got the doors adjusted to fit in the door hole, since that would be helpful. Reattached the rear lift (window / gate / hatch), reinstalled the outer door handles. Still have the inner panels and window cranks to go. Was gonna take a couple pics but by this time I had gotten darker all over

Not thrilled with the black doors, but I can deal with em till spring.

Took it for a short drive to see how it sounded with a hard top - this was my first ever time driving a CJ with a herd top. I kinda liked it...... then realized I didn’t have any mirrors . Gotta scrounge some CJ mirrors up..

They are really nice in the winter when it's cold and snowy.

Black doors look good to me. I think you said something before but where did the bar behind your seats come from ? Don't really remember seeing one on a another jeep.

When I swapped the roll bar out due to rotten feet, I cut a few chunks out and added the crossbar - originally for a 4 point harness mount. Then I thought it would be a good forward tie in for a dog net. And it also makes a great grab bar when turning to look behind you.

Nobody rides in the back ever ? Looks like a great nose buster.

Don’t even have the back seat in there. Bout the only people interested in riding in the back are the dogs

Here’s a daylight pic with the hard top. Funny how it totally changes the looks......

Your jeep really looks nice. Great colors to me. Enjoy the moment of accomplishment !

Your CJ looks great! A hard top is nice in the colder weather. And I know it sounds whimpy, but carpet is nice too. When I had my first CJ I had both hard and soft tops, and carpet.
Red and black is a great color scheme...

Once I get the leaks worked out I’m going the carpet route - my others were all carpeted and yes, it’s a nice addition.

After I got the inner door grab handles cleaned up, the plan was to paint them with vinyl paint and wrap the inner portion with 550 cord. The paint appears to be sticking nicely so I’ll run with just paint for now

I did the half door panels and one of the full door panels with SEM paint and the other panel and handles with Duplicolr paint. Almost exact color match. We’ll see how durable it is...

I got something similar for my 1/2 doors and took them off after 2 days. They were sticking into the side of my leg to much. Now I don't use any door pull. Just don't needem

I used paracord for the half door pulls......

Didn’t get much of anything done today...... other than reinstalling the inner door panels, window cranks, and door pulls.

That thing is looking nice.

Stopped by the polling spot after work. On the way out the Jeep looked nice with the Parkway in the background.....
