Build Thread The '80 FrankenJeep frame off reassembly
I had no idea the market had grown around these parts like it has....

Cool site. I drove by Blue Mountain in Afton last weekend. If I was not on a timed commitment, I would have stopped.

I’m gonna be in NOVA again sometime around the end of May / early June...... when I get a definite date I’ll let ya know. Maybe we can cross paths....

Yeah. Let me know when. I am up for meeting up.

And what’s the route number for “Brewery Road”? Around Waynesboro with all the breweries, wineries, and distillery?

Got a little more done tonight. Man, work really cuts into my productive time LOL. Picked up a timing light, got that fixed up. Got the idle mixture pretty close. It's still running a little rich at idle, I think. I'm not sure which one, but I believe it has a slightly "lopey" cam in it, and it took me a bit to remember that. Trying to get a nice smooth idle with that setup is a trip. But, once it warms up, it idles pretty good. Need to take a few more laps thru the neighborhood tomorrow to check for pinging.

I ordered a coolant overflow bottle from Quadratec, but when it got here, I looked around under the hood and have no idea where it's supposed to go. Have a sneaking suspicion its supposed to go where the washer bottle is....... but that the one that was there when I bought it. I can't remember if I had an overflow bottle or not........ but the one I got had mounting tabs that made it appear it was supposed to go on the back of the inner fender, on the curved surface. Well, on the driver's side is where my washer fluid bottle lives

At the front of that fender, by the power steering pump, is too tight

No more room by the alternator

So....... I figured it was only there for overflow. As long as I had coolant in the bottom of the bottle I would be good...... so here's where I tucked it......

Tomorrow we add exhaust hangers....... And the passenger seat. The daughter unit come in for a week, and announced she wanted a ride. I may let her drive it. The last time she drove it, right before the teardown, she sorta "skipped" it up the road LOL.

And for the record........ I've been experimenting with a bit of bourbon........ mixed it with some mango juice, added a bit of maraschino cherry juice, and I'm not sure what to call it, but it's pretty good. After about 30 minutes or so, I think I'll call it "oh :dung:" LOL. At this point, typing is an adventure...... Before I type something stupid, I'm out.

The two bottles share a mounting bolt...

Man it’s been so long since I saw mine that I forgot where they go, I only remember having to trace the wiring down to find the ECM buried under one of them on that fender

That’s a cool setup. The washer reservoir looks like it would hold at least a gallon. I like your setup, but mines done now. I’ll focus on the “done” part LOL

Didn't notice that you already had yours placed.

This is just a photo of the OEM setup that I saved when trying to figure mine out.

Thanks for the pics and info......

One of these days I’ll grab an OEM style washer bottle and fix it. Until then, I’ll just go with the Stealth overflow bottle.....

Are you talking about using a MIller quart beer bottle also with the tie-wrap ? :)

Finally got around to finishing out the exhaust..... A PO had run both exhaust straight out the back, inside the frame, and it would flood the tub with fumes. I cut em both back at the rear axle, and intended to turn em out behind the rear tires. Rather than go thru the hassle of measuring, sketching, measuring, cussing, and measuring....... I just decided to grab some 45's and a couple straights, and did it myself. Figured with all the hassle of telling a muffler shop what I wanted, driving back and forth after the first try didn't fit...... it'd be easier to just work it out at home. Besides - I'm confidant I'll get tired of the header mufflers after a couple days, so a lot of this will get a rework anyway.

Here's what I started with on the driver's side....

Side note - Appears the bump stops were never extended with the addition of the lift.......

In the midst of battle with the grinder, pipe pieces, a sharpie, and the welder, I didn't stop to take pics till I got em ready to hang.

One of the little, petty things that bugs me is how some muffler shops will put a tail pipe on a vehicle and the end looks like it was hacked off with an axe...... Dressed this one up with the grinder...
