Where did you end up getting your pieces ? Looks good !

I have an Advance Auto not a half mile from me. Just went over there......

Got the soft to forward rod supports dabbed up today...... I believe they'll work. The originals only had one rivet attaching the plastic piece to the aluminum angle which allowed it to rotate. I'm assuming that was to allow adjustability to allow for windshield angle variations. The original also was only on one side of the angle, and due to a thin cross section, bent easily. I made the plastic part cover both sides.... should be a little stronger. Before I start riveting, I need to paint the angles black, and reinstall the rest of the hardware so I can verify the correct location and angle of the plastic piece. Here's what I started with today....

Got the angle notched and contoured to fit the windshield frame, stuck the plastic pieces in place, and it appears it will function beautifully.

I was waiting to see if you were gonna post up a diagram of his basement. That would have been impressive. Creepy, but impressive....

Decided last night since it was raining, I’d find something to do inside. Time to get back on the shift knobs. I had planned on routing out the markings and filling with epoxy like the center cap - but had an epiphany......... so I ran out and bought some dry transfer letters. Figured after a couple clear top coats it would look the same as the epoxy. After I got the Transfer Case knob lettered, I realized the black letters on that walnut all but disappeared.

Now I’m thinking white lettering would be a better choice. If I can find it around here I’ll swap it........ stopped working on that for now, so I removed the knobs from the bases, drilled and tapped for Heli-coils, and got the bottoms all threaded up. As luck would have it, the shift lever threads are the same as the windshield hold down knobs and the thermostat housing bolts..... got to use the same insert kit for the third time. [emoji106]

Well, tonight was an interesting evening.... had just propped the hood up to bleed the brakes a little more - and got a call to meet my wife an daughter for dinner. Changed clothes real quick, got in the car, closes the garage door, etc., etc...... got home, opened the garage door, and realized the steel bracket on the garage door had scrubbed across the nose of the hood when closing then opening...... knocked a chunk about the size of a dime off the nose....... so it looks like I’ll be repainting the hood now [emoji35][emoji35]. At least now this will be a good time to remove the remnants of the green fly stuck in the paint from the first time LOL.

Yeah - gonna rework that one for sure. Good news is it needed repainting anyway, I just didn’t wanna do it. Right after I painted it, it was hanging under the deck and the wind blew it down. It landed in the grass, with no apparent damage. Recently I found a crack in the paint running along the raised center section about a foot long. Sooooooo, this will fix that as well. I had enough paint for a couple coats on the hard doors whenever I got around to cleaning them up, but got a smoking deal on YJ hard uppers. Gonna run then with the hard lowers and the hard top in the winter. Once I get the uppers in hand,
And I verify they’ll work, the full hard doors are going away.

So when you say hard uppers, are you meaning sliding glass windows ? Or something else ?
