Yeah, kinda felt bad for the Dodge - till I realized the seat belt ends would work. I got over the pity party pretty quickly!!

I wouldn't leave my '78 out over night until I got the door locks working for fear of finding the doors gone the next morning. A nice clean set of hard doors are worth a lot around here.

Well - had a minor setback today. Drove the Jeep down the street to a neighbors for a dip in their pool..... started it up to come home and all of a sudden it’s missing badly - like only firing on 5 cylinders. Bad enough it won’t idle. First thought was it jumped time, but it’s a new chain and hear set. Has fuel. New plugs, cap, wires, and distributor guts. Tomorrow I wanna hook the timing light up to each plug wire and see if I find a couple dead leads. Thinkin the MSD box may have taken a dump.

Yup - I'll fix or replace as long as I own the vehicle LOL.

And I think I found the problem. I checked one thing and now have it narrowed to two possibilities. One of them is the thing that's kept me up at night since I did it. Just pulled the dipstick and it appears my coolant is in the crank case. Intake gasket I'm guessing. Now for the $500 question. Can I just drain the block, drain the radiator, add cheap oil and run with no coolant for a couple seconds, then drain to get the water out, or is this a pull the block and disassemble thing??????

I did some digging around - you know, internet intelligence - and I think it's down to two occurrences....... blown head gasket or intake gasket. Good news is, I get to check the intake gasket before the head gaskets since either way the intake has to come off. I didn't feel comfy when I put the intake on, and still don't. After starting it up the firs time, I got the timing about where I wanted it, and immediately checked the oil looking for coolant. Didn't see any, so felt a little better.

I know thread sealer should be used on the long bolts for the water pump / timing cover......... can't remember if I did. Neither process will be easy. Remove intake and all :dung: on or over it, or remove grill, fenders, radiator, fan, and water pump / timing cover....... I'm not happy......

Dang that’s suckin, I usually use silicon on all my bolts for the water pump timing cover and intake I hate leaks

I’m still leaning toward the intake. I just found edelbrock instructions - my installation varied a bit. So OFF with the intake. When I drained the oil,I got neerly a half gallon of clear antifreeze before the milkshake started. I can’t believe I got that much coolant past a poorly sealed thread

The antifreeze eats up the bearings if it was in the oil I would pull a rod bearing and main to check for copper. If it wasn't there for to many miles you should be ok.
 
At the most, maybe 3 miles. Not even. I just start occasionally and do a lap in the neighborhood. Last time I checked the oil it was ok so it hasn’t been there long.
