Timing pulley?

A while ago I took apart my CJ5 1982 down to the timing gears. Took off fan and pulleys to do so. Didn't realize that I should have marked the pulley with the timing mark. How should I put it back on so that it lines up correctly?

There is a vibration dampner and a vibration dampner pulley on the front of the 4 cylinder engine. The dampner itself should be lined up with a key on the crankshaft and the pulley should bolt on the dampner. I was not aware the the pulley had to be lined up with anything except being mounted flat against the dampner.

I haven't got as far as trying to put it back on yet. Just ready to, so I looked in a mechanic book and it was saying after you unbolt the pulley, mark the position of that part with a white marker. And I know I didn't do that. So thought I'd see if I needed to do anything else by asking on here.

Looking at the 4 cylinder stuff in my M.R.252 fsm, which covers '85-'86, I see no mention of the pulley alignment. Other than tightening it to 20 ft. lbs. If you are concerned about that alignment, look for any evidence that might indicate just how it was mounted. It is critical that the pin on the upper timing gear is lined up correctly and that the marks on the timing gears are in the correct location, along with the alignment key for the vibration dampner. That seems to be about it, look for any wobble on the pulley when you start it up, as that might be a factor requiring you to realign the pulley.
