I have a 1978 CJ5 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 3 speed. Wanting to know if a 5 speed out of a 1998 wrangler with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l will swap out with no mods.

well for sure the driveshafts are diffrent the 98 Transmission has a hydrualic clutch linkage depending on what Transfer Case you have you will have to have an adapter for it and Im sure the Transmission mount is diffrent. It would make you Cj much more street freindly if your willing to put in the effort to do the swap
