I just installed a 2.5 suspension lift (pro comp). I used the shims on the rear but not on the front. Rear seemed as if it needed the shims but not the front. I started hearing a clanking sound when turning corners and when putting into gear so I assumed my u joints needed replacing. I parked the jeep until I could get new joints and the next day there was a huge tranny fluid spill in my drive way. I have had Transmission leaks in the past so I figured was the gasket on the pan. I threw some dry sweep down and just let it leak until I could get to it. A week has passed and the leak has stopped (leaked out). when I crawled under the devil I mean the jeep the pan was dry but the Transfer Case was soaked. Im not sure where the leak is coming from but pretty sure it is the t case. I loosened the drain plug and maybe an ounce of milky and black fluid came out. My first thought is to clean the t case, refill with fluid, and inspect to see where the leak is.

Any thoughts?

I agree with filling it back up to try and see where it's leaking from first. I'd also be concerned that the clunking noise might've been coming from the Transfer Case if all it had was 1 ounce of oil in it

Ck the front DS yoke seal on that t'case.
Make sure the nuts on both yokes are TIGHT.

The fluid had previously leaked out onto my driveway. I am assuming the only fluid left was what was below where ever the leak is. There was a good bit of fluid around the yoke that goes to the front wheels.

If the seal is bad around the yoke should I pull the Transfer Case to repair or is it best to leave attached to the Transmission ?

BTW thanks for the quick responses.

Mine is weeping from the front yoke as well. It took me a bit to find cause it coats the whole underside of the TC. I kept drying it off and looking but didnt see anything anywhere else. Looks like a trickle coming off the yoke.

You can leave the t'case installed and R&R the seal with out to much work.
IF you do'n have one yet-Buy a factory service manual. Haynes & Chiltons are not that good for info.
