Engine: 4.0L ('99 Wrangler)
Tranny: T4
TC: D300
Rear Dif: AMC-20 Wide Track, 2:73 gears
Front Dif: D30
Currently equipped with a T-4 , which I understand is ill equipped to handle a 4.0L. Plus it will need to be rebuilt.
The differential is the stock 3:73 I believe.
The guy at the salvage yard has the tranny that came with the wrangler. I assume it's the AX15. I wasn't real hip on the shifter location moving back as explained in an article I read.

I could be wrong, but I dont believe 3:73's were an available OEM option. 2:73 or 3:31's were the available ratios in the 80's. If you have 3:31's, you'd find 5th gear useful for flat highway speeds. If you have 2:73's, any 4 speed will be fine. I'm still running 2:73's with a T19 and I'm running around 2k on the tach at 70ish
