two transfer case shifters

One issue with twin sticks nobody mentions. When descending hills, the rear will want to pop out of gear. I have tried doing front digs with mine and found it's easier and quicker to just reposition the whole vehicle. The 300 was never intended to be shifted independently, so the internals bind and it is a PITA to shift.

Maybe your shift detent ball springs are worn, or for some reason it's not engaging all the way. I've never known anyone else to have this problem.

Also mine shifts much better now than it ever did with a single stick.
Same for the other people I know with a Dana 300 with twin sticks.

I twinsticked my 300 several years ago and have never had an issue with it binding or popping out of gear. And shifting is a LOT smoother then a single stick setup.
I built mine using a couple ¼" pieces of plate steel and an extra Dana 300 shifter.

I though popping out of gear was a common problem? Mine does it and I have read about others having the same problem. I dunno. My dad's Dana 300 with stock shifter is much smoother than mine. I also run an auto tranny, which creates other issues.

I run an auto too, thats one of the reasons I love my twin stick. I can now shift it without all of the problems I had with the single stick. No more backing up or having to put it in park. Most of the time I can now shift on the fly, maybe hit N at the most.
I still think if yours is popping out of gear something is not right with it.

Yea you can build your own for cheap or check put jbfab.net for a sweet setup ,last time I looked they were 99.oo$ bucks and even came with a boot .its a solid piece and stainless not all the linkages and bolts to adjust like other kits.

OK my next question, what will the shift pattern be once I do this

Same as before X2 each axle will be operated separately if you want 4 low on both axles you have to move both levers, break an axle an you can shift that axle into neutral and drive out on the other axle :chug:

My Dana 300 twinstick used to pop out of gear, the culprit was a combination of my homebrew shifter plate cover hitting the stick under certain flex conditions, and bad motor/tranny mounts caused all sorts of odd problems.

The only boot I could find to work with my stick setup has a small base, and I cut the plate a little too small. when i changed my motor and tranny mounts, I couldn't even engage the front drive... and the rear drive wouldn't reach high. Everything cleared fine when I first fabbed the plate. Live and Learn i guess.

It is a PITA to shift on the fly. Usually I have to stop the engine. I run an automatic tranny, and that may be half the problem, there.
