Anyone running US Standard ring n pinion? I'm looking at a set of 4:88 and was wondering what folks thought about them...

I was told that the difference between the Yukon and USA R&P sets (besides price) was the finish polishing - They don't do the final polishing on the USA's. They might be a little noisier at first and the break in is longer. He said the only issues they have seen with the USA's is from improper set-up (which is true of any R&P set).

This came from a buddy working for a distributor (that made me promise to remain nameless), but he's running the USA's (4.88 with 35's) on his TJ and has had no issues.

Their no noise from his axles, but it's a Jeep with 35 MT's so I don't think we could tell... :rolleyes:
 
Standard gear is yukon except they don’t do the final lapping with a fine grit compound which helps with break-in and run quieter/cooler. Yukon/ “USA” Standard Gears are manufactured by Punjab Bevel Gears in Ghaziabad, India.

Personally, I don't hear any gear noise over my 360 and PB tires, nor will you if your running mud tires.
 
I thought I saw that US gears were made in America. Hmm, maybe that was a set of axles I was looking at. So about near double the cost for Yukons for extra cleaning? Damn...

Well, the box was made in the US if that counts.

A couple other clients of Punjab Bevel Gears is Dana and American Axle & Manufacturing "should read supplier not manufacturing".

The list is a lot longer, they make lockers, axles, tranny gears etc for US companies
