1985 CJ7 straight 6 rush upgrade just installed a mc2100 with 48 jets and I think I got it tuned as good as I can and wanted your opinion. mixture screws turned out 1-/34 turns, timing set at 10-11 BTDC any lower it stumbles, 19-20psi on the vac gauge and it is idling at 750-800 rpm It does have a flowmaser exhaust but If I sit there and listen really close it sounds like there is a very faint stumble every so often, it may just be me being paranoid. listen for yourself and tell me what you think. Any "Stumbling" or a miss could be caused by a ignition control module going out or distributor pick up coil. Check the deposits on the spark plugs also. The pick up coil can be checked by getting 600-800 ohms between the orange and violet wires from the distributor plug, as I recall. The icm should not be hot to the touch either. Use your repair manual to compare spark plug deposits. It doesn't really sound all the bad either.

You could also have some arcing inside the dissy that will now and then cause a plug to mis-fire.

I heard what you are talking about. Both the lower toned sound at the exhaust and the higher 'click' at the engine that are most likely related. Mine doesn't have that. I'd check the Ignition Module or Dizzy like was stated since it sounds electrical in nature.

I was not able to notice as to whether or not you had the team rush conversion, it is the best solution that I know of to help against spark arcing. It is posted in this forum and on the net. Most guys notice a smoother operating engine after that.

I have the same thing kinda like a "bloop" once then maybe 40-60 seconds later "bloop". i kinda it, but yes it would be nice to see if its something wrong or can be tuned out. i have a DUI ignition......?
