It's been a couple years since I started 'fixing' my CJ5 's ignition woes...and with help from this forum, I'm almost there. From rough idling, to timing issues, I think the perfect setup is now only lacking new jets for my Weber 32/36 DGEV E.choke. ('83 I6-AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l / TeamRush Ign. upgrade / 13 deg. BTDC / idle sp. 750 rpm)
I purchased the Jeep with the Weber carb already installed. It ran well in its native Arizona at 5,000 ft. altitude. When I brought it to its new home in KC (1,000 ft.alt.)...she ran a little rough. (The TeamRush upgrade helped tremendously).
We'll be in KC for 3 or 4 more years, then we're moving to Colorado. We're talking 8-10,000 ft. at that time.
Here are some questions I now have:
1) How do I know what size jets are currently installed in the carb?
2) What size jets do I need for my current 1,000 ft.alt.?
3) What size jets will I need for 8,000+ ft.alt. in a couple of years?
4) When I change the jets, is it that simple...or do I need to reset the timing, idle speed, fuel/air mixture as well...every time?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
