Yesterday was a "why the he_ _ did I buy this thing" day. Started out I was going to grease her, then try to get the water temp & fuel gauge working. Couldn't get on some of the yoke fittings, then couldn't find my test light. Then I tried to get behind the dash. Yeah right. Then I was going to bleed the front brakes. PO told me master cylinder was low & he filed it before I picked it up. Rounded off the bleeder on the drive's side. Off to Pep Boys for test light, Jeep ky ring, manual, brake bleeder screws and adapters for my grease gun. Got back & Pam, (wife), started checking the Jeep out. She says "I need side steps" to get in. I said " find the ones ya want". Then she says " What's running down the firewall". I check & it's brake fluid. I look on the inside & there's brake fluid there also. Took me 4 hrs to get it off. Dam_ cotter pin. I have ordered the master cylinder & removed the caliper to get the bleeder screw out.

Here's where I think most jeep people go wrong. They try to "repair" rather than rebuild, and start patching up stuff, which just leads to another problem. When something on an old Jeep gives up the ghost, It's best to gut the whole offending system (like the brakes) end to end, and just make it new. Chances are you will not have to revisit that problem again, and it will be cheaper in cost and grief! Then move onto the next issue as it comes up. Before long, you will have a completely reliable Jeep. Like CJ said, once their put back to correct, their pretty damn reliable and hearty as a rule.
