The only thing I would check is the torque(70-90 ft/lbs)on the carrier bearing cap bolts. Then sealer back up and refill.
How many miles do you have on that set up?

Thanks for the advice Lumpy. This Dana 44 was completely rebuilt with new 456 gears, new Eaton elocker, all new seals and bearings less than a year ago. Those carrier bearing cap bolts (as well as everything else) were properly torqued with the thread locker applied.

Only about 1200 miles on this set up. Hope to put many more on this year. :)
 
Washed last years last run off and out of it. Greased all my zerks. Rubbed the super soft Iroks and wondered how long they will last.

It's fairly common to recheck torque a few months after even the very best install. Cheap insurance..
 
New parts,


After bleeding the system a number of times, removing all 4 brakes calipers, cracked the fittings at the self adjuster and line lock. I confirmed there wasn't any air in the system, and ended up with the same results, pedal to the floor and by the third pump I had brakes.

I inspected the remand M/C I recently purchased and found the primary cup wasn't sealing properly. I should have inspected the M/C first, but I assumed a “new” M/C should work. Must have been rebuilt the day after christmas.

Picked up, and installed the second new M/C, I cracked the bleeder, very little fluid came out, and the pedal hit the floor. After I closed the bleeder I had no pedal. Popped the M/C cover and I could see the primary and secondary piston were stuck. I did free up the primary, no dice on the secondary. Must have been rebuilt Jan 2nd. "New" one ordered will be in Thursday.

That sucks. I think the most irritating part is the time you can't get back.

All depends on how you look at it. I try to look at the positive, I try to gain something from the experience, even a repetitive job.

I'll pass on a tip I learned from this particular brake job. There is an easy way to confirm all air has been removed from your system. Remove the M/C cover and slowly push the brake pedal down. Now, slide your foot sideways off the pedal so as to release the pedal fast. If there is air in the system fluid will shoot up from the M/C higher the 3".

Posi - Having gone through a very similar poorly manufactured MC it is easy for me to fully understand how frustrating this can be. I'm sure like me you've done this job many times with no problems at all, suddenly NOTHING works. You are doubting your self, maybe beating yourself up a little, then come to what is the obvious conclusion, you have a bad MC. One thing sure is nice though. When you replace the MC and the system bleeds right up the way it is supposed to. ..... Man what a relief that is.

What did I do with my jeep? I realized that I didn't put a new registration stickers on the license plate. Then I realized that I don't have the current registration with me either. Well at least the CJ IS licensed and insured. Couldn't prove I though.
 
Rollers in place..... walking out to let the Jeep down off jacks, crank it up, and run it after a 2 month remove-and-replace overhaul of the Dana 30 front axle. Happy day!
 
Got a new 4" lift installed as well as solid 1 piece rear axles looks pretty good I must say.

Drove around with the doors off, testing new steering components, in the beginning thundershowers of what stands fair to be four days of rain.... like we needed any more. I pulled the floor plugs in hope of washing out some dust and debris, but the real storms haven't started. The steering is tight and smooth.
 
Took the soft top off, and put my extended 'bikini' top on.
Jeep will stay like this till the first of Nov.

Mounted my new steering gear box. tonight I will get the pitman, steering shaft, and hoses all connected back up.
 
We had 7" of snow last night.

81* here :D
I know the Colorado weather very well. I was born in Denver and lived in Cripple Creek.
