Been stuck in this heat dome in the northeast. So no Jeep work. However I've been making progress on the 68 GTO convertible.

Yeah even my cheeks under my sunglasses have been sweating away. Glad some of you can join us in summer. It’s been hot here for 5 or 6 weeks. Even the tomato plants stopped putting out much in the last 2 weeks. It’s plain old hot !

The illusion of speed with the Timelapse is less convincing when you see all the cars passing me.

Replaced a rear shaft U-joint because it didn’t have a grease zerk.
Been on there for a couple years and it’s been bugging me that I couldn’t grease it.
I was in a hurry at the time I installed it (about to head to Moab) onto the lengthened shaft and a non-zerk was all that NAPA had.
Now I have a spare in the tool bag.

There actually stronger since they are solid steel with no passage ways to weaken the joint. They are infact grasable but require you to pull the caps off and grease them manually.

Yes, correct but I'm not racing my jeeps anymore. So, unless you have many, many HP putting torque to that driveshaft - go with a greasable and do so often.

Finished the bumper/ tire carrier/jack holder. Now hunting for a cheap 31/9.5 or 10.5 for a spare. Hopefully something close turns up at the PA jeep show next weekend.

I gotta give it up to Tuffy Security. Drove in the pouring rain today with only a bikini top, but the security drawer stayed bone dry. Their customer service may suck, but the built quality is second to none.
