Should be the pink pink wire. Mine splits from the loom behind the driver side rear tire.

With the help of the board I got my fuel gauge working and now I just have one small weeper leak at my sending unit. O ring and lock down ring have shipped. That will solve that too. Now on to the next things...

007 - Make sure to check the fuel uptake line around the top of the sending unit. Frequently that annoying fuel leak or smell is coming from the loss of the seal around the pipe.

:agree:

Mine did this and a full tank would leak badly.
I had to remove the sending unit and re-solder the areas around the return and feed lines.

Will do. I'll snug them up.

I'm letting it cool a bit before I head out there. ;-)

Very nice I like the color. Is that the color of your Jeep?
Our CJ7 is John Deere flat black with a red dash and other red accents. This paint is International Harvester red and is very close to the dash color. We must be doing a tractor theme… 😀

I didn't actually paint it, but did a lot of the prep

Ah, so then you're the one that did all of the work... :punk: The rest is the easy part.

007 - This has nothing to do with snugging anything up. It has to do with the solder joint around the fuel tube and the top of the sending unit. Grab the unit top and give the fuel tube a good wiggle. If it moves you need to either get a new unit or re-solder the tube in place. If the sending unit works properly I would suggest fixing the one you've got.

Ah. Gotcha. I'm definitely good there. This tank and unit are 3 yrs old and I checked that nonetheless and they're both good.

You want to use REAL lead solder 60/40 mix. My LPG torch was perfect for this fix.
Make sure the old solder area is shiny clean before add'n any new solder.
Good luck,

AWESOME!!!

I assume you know there's a group of board members headed out to the San Juans in mid August. Maybe you can make it.
