Been working on my pioneering kit:

Military rack (HMMWV):

New tools:

Stained all the handles:

Still need to put a couple coats of boild linseed oil on the wood, and paint the shovel handle/ax head satin black. Presently HackFab'n the bracket to mount this on the rear tire carrier and mounting points for the hatchet and engineer hammer (not pictured).

I finally get to post here. I didn't do anything to the cj (it still sits partially disassembled in the barn where it has been for some time). But on the upside I received (thank you fedex) and opened the parts for the reheat and the remainder of the disc brake swap on the 20. This weekend should bring progress and some pictures. I blame our very own SPONGE for this remotivation to rehabilitate the cj. After the gears is a tranny rebuild and completion of the tbi swap. Then she is gonna get tore apart for the final time for a full cosmetic make over. But first I want to drive my baby.

Hack-Put that linseed oil on the metal also to help reduce rust issues.

Awesome!!! Glad I could inspire ya to get off your arse old friend...

Not much, but getting ready to...

Put it up on some new wheel dollies I got last summer. I haven't had enough space to move it around in the garage until now.

I'd like to get a set of them one of these days.

Got it muddy. Took the windows off and went wheeling. It's unseasonably hot and rainy right now

I look at it and made plans. Raining too much last few weekends so any type of painting is out. Will work on rear tail light holes in 2 weeks. The wife works nights and our master bedroom is above the garage.

You have got one steady hand! How did you get the 55-85 mph line done?

Thanks, but not as steady as you think...... I cheated. Cut electrical tape into 1/16" strips and taped it off. Laid down one coat of flat lacquer to prevent bleeding, then laid the orange down. Pulled the tape while the paint was wet. Turned out better than I was expecting.

Weld, and primed

I really like the gray panel in back in the first picture. Keeps the OE wheel cutout look so-to-speak.

Thanks, last night I cut up some rusted stock fenders to use the inners on the tube fenders. I was almost done making inners out of sheetmetal but stopped 3/4 thru.

Very nice job blending the sheet metal to the pipe. I use flap wheels on an angle grinder to knock down the welds and blend things together, is that how you do it or is there another trick? I'm sure you didn't use body filler for anything other that very minor clean up if at all.

Thanks, flapper wheel and angle grinder. After welding I filled with wire where needed.

Started with 36 grit and finished with 120.

Around here I can't seem to find anything other than 40, 60 or occasionally 80 grit. While you can do a nice finish job by working the angles with 80 grit occasionally it would be nice to more or less polish with something less abrasive. No matter what I sure love those flap wheels, especially after using nothing but a big Milwaukee grinder as a kid.

>> DUMB QUESTION ALERT <<

What does it mean to "fill with wire"?
