Nice job! Did you do it yourself or have a local shop do the work?

Did it myself, I bought it as a 2 wheel drive chevy and converted it to a 23 spline dodge output. I didn't realize when I bought it the po had stuck the early 6.34 gears in a late case so I had to get an early case and input bearing retainer on top of everything else to make reverse work but it's finally done and it will yield a 99 to 1 crawl ratio the adventure in this is a sticky in drivetrain section

Hey Belizian, welded just to the tubes, not the diff, and the manufacturer is searchers4wd.com They make them for several different rear ends and come to you as either a flat cut out that you put together and weld, or they will ship welded for $80.00 more. They have a you tube vid to show you how to put the cut out together if you go that route.

Thanks I have seen that one I think once before on this forum. I think searchers is also local to this area also. Did you do it with the axel on the vehicle and fuel tank out?

I was given permission, from my wonderful bride of many years, to farm this one out. I had Predator 4x4 take on the anxiety and frustration, I usually go through, for a nominal fee that I found very easy to live with. Besides, I do have a terrible cold in case I need the sympathy vote. The truss indeed comes from your neck of the wetlands. I'm well pleased with their work.

A bit ago I said I hit the dash and glove box door with OD paint..... should have read "of". I used a red thats similar to the vinyl in case I missed a spot. Here's the glove box door

Here's the dash in process:

I'm gonna try to get the gauges and indicators back in tonight, but I do believe I'm now fighting a flu bug. Have a BIG case of no ambition at the moment.

Predator is my shop of choice also. They do good work and stand behind it. I'm sending all of Jerry's kids through college though. I should have checked to see how many kids he had, though, before I started on this CJ.

Yeah, I can live with that. The problem with it being such a good shop is that they probably aren't going away. That means I'll be back when I find another can't do without but don't want to do project. Everybody needs a place like this!

Reminds me about my father years ago saying how every few years his lawyer was buying a new and bigger fishing boat

Finally got rid of the paper plate, got my custom plate in the mail yesterday and decided to put it on and go for a ride. Found out the home brew Transfer Case shifter is FUBAR. I got 4 high, neutral, and 4 low, but no 2 high. Had to disconnect the front drive bar from the shifter so I could cruise around without spinning the very tired front driveshaft.

If you have to ask, drop and give me 20.

Did some needed wiring repair under the hood. Pulled wiring out of loom cover and found three problem wires. All repaired and in new cover. Was amazed I hadn't had a fire! Behind the dash is next as soon as it gets warm and the top can come off.

That's a good thing for Tuesday. Mardi Gras in NOLA. ALL the tops will be off on Bourbon street :chug:

Can we just 'do' one side so some of us could attach these to the dash of our CJ's?
Was think'n in the size range of 1 1/2"- 1 5/8" dia.
Just a thought is all.
