What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Hi Baja

Once your vehicle reaches 3 years old we have to get that done every 12 months. you don't see many 15-20 year old cars over here, let alone 30 year old :)

it is a tough test but it does help keep unsafe cars off the road.

Ohh it also costs £55 as well (about $75) and that goes up each year.
And with fuel at an average of £5.50 ($8.43) per gallon, car road tax at £112 ($171) per 6 months , they realy make it expensive to drive over here.

Isn't that the object to get the old cars, Jeeps & trucks off the road.
To crush individuality & force everybody into a cookie cutter type vehicle.
A disposable that has a three year lifespan.
Then tax you to death. How about that Value Added Tax, can you explain that one. Now they want a carbon tax! Next it'll be a metered Butt-Plug to meter your methane output. The only problem with that is the worst emitters, the politicians will be exempt.:bang:

politicians would require two but plugs!!

LOL sounds about right.

I think after 3 years standing under a tree, and just needing rear brakes looking at it brilliant.
I've had Fords that have done worse when they were a lot younger and used every day.

and yes we get taxed on everything and then some. but hey this is a forum for Jeeps things we love , not hatefull taxes :D

You have to pardon us Mort, most of us live in the US of A. talking politics and bitching about the government is kind of like a national pass time it's something we do for fun and relaxation. :D
My CJ set for about ten years waiting for me to remember it. I cleaned the carb with a spray can of carb cleaner, disconnected the fuel line, put in a hot battery and hit the key, just to be sure the motor was not frozen. It started and idled until it ran out of carb cleaner, about 30 seconds. I am remembering why it has always been my favorite toy.

Mort, remember we hate government here in the USA, so how ours got so big I cannot figure out.
And we will kill for our rights to bitch about said government. It is like stated, a national pastime.:chug: We love it.
So forgive us when we do it, and invite your Jeeping buddies over there to join our site. We really love to experience how you guys do it over there.
Thanks for being a part of the forum, even if we are a bunch of :censored::censored::censored:Americans.

I think the word your looking for is barbarian. :D and damned proud of it too I mite add!

and yet the whole world believes that putting obama in the white house was the smartest thing we have ever done. we are so progressive and enlightened now, aren't you proud of us.

yes the last statement was meant to be sarcastic

Not the whole world. I think that :censored: was retarded. Matter of fact most people in the service would say that same. But not aloud to talk bad about hi so i wont.

Hi Guys no Problem. IIRC when i went to my cousins in Ca it was the same :)

Anyway slightly back on topic, Checked rear brakes today, rear slave cylinders were rusted, so i need to order them on Monday, also the brake master cylinder has a splitt washer so need to order a repait kit as well. so i won't get swampy otr until at least next weekend. But i'm off to a 4x4 auto jumble tomorrow so i may be able to pick some bits up there. But there will mostly be Land Rover stuff there i think.
But sdhould be a great day as teh sun will be out and leaving kids at home :)

I take it a Jumble is like a swap meet here, if it is then it should prove to be fun looking at all the stuff people can come up with to sell. Usually we can get a lot of deals at them, we have a big 4x4 one here twice a year.

Took the jeeps some chainsaws and machete's, and cleared out some older trails so we can use them again.

Very nice way to spend the day :)

Yes Baja. 1st one i have ever gone too. it's supposed to be huge, but not sure how much jeep stuff will be there as you don't see many around. but it will be a good day out and hopefully meet new people.

I had huge plans, was going to put the springs from under the 70 on the 67, swap out the tires on the 67 and finish the bumper for the 67. But I had chores in teh morning, had a guy come over and pick up a early CJ6 frame and a few CJ parts I needed moved, then did a honey do or 2, when I got back to the bumper, my air compressor took a dump and I had to get it exchanged (2 months old, they swapped it out) by the time I got back to the project at hand it was past noon so I cut off some metal on the clevis mounts to shape them and got ready to drill mounting holes, well my 1/2 inch drill was dull so that meant a trip to the hardware store. bottom line is I got it mounted and now need to mark it up for other features I want to add. This has been one of those simple 2 day projects that has taken me over a month so far.:notworthy:

At least you have a place to work on your jeep i would love to have been able to work on mine this weekend.

Bye Bye BBD!
Took the old non-computer BBD out and put on an MC2100. Got the kit from the ebay guy in Colorado. May be a little pricey, but everything you need is there, including a CD with very good instructions, and a lot of extra info. The old gal fired up as soon as the bowl was filled, and sounds sweet. Still have to check the timing, but that's gonna have to wait till tomorrow.

Congratulations!:chug:
It always feels good when it fires up on the first lick after you've had it apart.:D

I replaced all the parking brake cables today. I have never had a Jeep that the parking brake worked on. TODAY, I do!!:D
