What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Looks like a good time. Any more pic's.?
I didn't get many pictures on this trip but here are a couple more. This first one is deceiving. I am going up a hill that is steeper than it looks and it gets worse. In front of my jeep you can see some ledges I never made it up. I have an OX locker in the rear and a Tru-Track up front. I spun my tires and started to get out of shape. I was worried about getting sideways and rolling it. Or maybe even flipping backwards. So I chickened out and backed down the hill.

nice pic's, good to see someone enjoying there cj.:chug:

Over the last couple days I have gotten the engine install finished, the "custom" dash installed, most of the wiring started and ran, the engine tuned up with custom plug wires, got the ALT, PS and the fan installed, and got the front clip put back in place.

Simple question...belt latched or unlatched? :notworthy:

5 point harness for the hard stuff but sometimes only the lap belt.

I don't think you would be able to drive an ice pick between my cheks!:o

Gettin' her ready for the backroads in Big Bend. Fabbed a "dash cam" mount for the video camera, and installed an inverter so I can run the camera on AC, and have hot coffee to start the day(s). Did a test run with the dash cam, and came out pretty good. Thank God for "image stabilization". Gotta remember to clean the windshield real good, though. The Auto Focus kept keying in on the dirt when heading into the sun.
This is going to be so cool, lots of pictures Ken, I am hoping to do this in the fall if every thing lines up.

spent some time pulling more part off the frame. down to only the brake lines and sway off, then it will be ready for prep, lots and lots of welding and fabbing, then paint

put lift on the cj today it was suposed to be only 3.5 inches but it raised mine almost 6 inches total the top of my winshield frame is 78 inches from the ground to the top there are pics on my profile cant seam to post the pictures sorry

I am in the final tuning of the drive line, the 67 will have the drivetrain rebuilt except the engine with new shafts by Friday, woohoo, new rear sprins and it is done

I put Swampy ( my beloved CJ) in for her MOT (government raod test to make sure she's safe on the road), She faield but just on the rear brakes so i'm happy as i honestly thought after 3 years standing she woudl fail on more :D

How do they check rear brakes? or is this just the hand brake, parking brake, emergency brake that failed?

They put it on a rolling road that tests the load of the brakes when applied. It then gives a read out of the efficiency of each side. that determines a pass or fail, they do that for front , rear and handbrake.

It's a very stringent series of tests that we all dread every year

tells you a bit about it here.

Wow Mort
I just read those test
MOT check - MOT test information
that is one complete set of tests to have done
How often do you have to do them?

we could get a lot of POS's off the road if they did :eek:that here

I found a Factory dash with gauges ($200) :D to replace the piece of sheet metal that the PO decided would make a good dash!

Hi Baja

Once your vehicle reaches 3 years old we have to get that done every 12 months. you don't see many 15-20 year old cars over here, let alone 30 year old :)

it is a tough test but it does help keep unsafe cars off the road.

Ohh it also costs £55 as well (about $75) and that goes up each year.
And with fuel at an average of £5.50 ($8.43) per gallon, car road tax at £112 ($171) per 6 months , they realy make it expensive to drive over here.

$8.43 a gallon wow youd be better off building a car that ran on milk at that price.

And as for a 30 year old vehicle passing today's "tough" test with little to no problems just says one thing to me. they don't build them like they usta:). our jeeps will be around for along time some of them are older then the owners and will outlive the owners in some cases as well.
