Inside the engine needed a good cleaning so I went with the sea foam.
You could squirt a mist of water down the carb to do pretty much the same thing.
Typically I would just add MMO in with an oil change and 4 oz to a full tank of gas. Less then half the price of sea foam.
Aviation machanics used MMO to quiet lifters for years.

I have a deep long and everlasting love for all things Marvelous Mystery Oil. MY dad used it for cleaning his guns and about everything else, that minty smell always brings me back home. It was here before all the fancy modern oil and fuel additives, I hope it's here long after the other products are gone.

I love the smell of marvel mystery oil as well

Be aware, a little of the red goodness of MMO goes a long ways. It's a million things in one. A penetrating oil, a solvent, it's great in Diesel engine oil, it's a light oil, it is a fuel treatment, a parts cleaner ....... Love that red pinstriped can. ..... :( lately they have gone to plastic.

I have been known to use STP oil treatment as a lubricant when resizing rifle brass...... I bet MMO would fill that bill as well.

From Wikipedia...

According to the company's 2015 safety data sheet:

Petroleum Distillates (Hydrotreated Heavy Naphthenic) also known as mineral oil 60-100%

Petroleum Distillates (Stoddard Solvent) also known as white spirit 10-30%

Tricresyl phosphate 0.1-1.0%

Ortho Dichlorobenzene 0.1-1.0%

Para Dichlorobenzene <0.1%

No, I wouldn't use MMO for sizing brass. Why? It is a very thin penetrating type product, I.E. it will get in places you don't want it to be. Primers HATE any type of petroleum product. Also for sizing you need a heavy lube that stays between the brass and the die. Yes, there are dry lubes, those use a dry lubricant (yeah, I know, obviously).

With that being said, I suppose if you tumble the heck out of your brass after sizing, it would work. I am not much for shinny brass, I like to tumble brass until it is clean, but not necessarily perfectly shinny.

The mystery may not be a mystery at all ... I don't care, it will always hold a magical quality.

I've been carrying this NATO quality Jerry Can in this position for about a year now. Yesterday I noticed a gas smell. Thought nothing about it. Then stopped at a store and the smell was very strong. On inspection I found a pin hole in a totally random spot in the can. Pressurized fuel was spraying out. A small spark and the CJ would have been a rolling torch.

The can is ratchet strapped down, it does not move or wiggle around. The hole is not in a chafed area. It's totally random. In the picture the hole would be at the 2:00 position right at the end of the impressed fillet. I find this a little frustrating because these cans are supposed to be able to stand up to this kind of use.

Does anyone know of a can that will fit in a Jerry can holder and is more durable? The modern plastic military cans come to mind, but the few I've found were STUPID expensive. Reasonably priced Military Water cans are relatively easy to find.

I finished up installing power steering in my 84 CJ7 . I got a few cranks in to circulating fluid and coolant (I pulled the radiator to connect the hoses to the box) and the battery got too tired. Now Im charging the battery. :-)

Sounds like fun

That sure took the Mystery out of Mystery oil :D

Damb it's still a mystery to me. What the heck is all that stuff. All I know is it's a lot of chemicals. Probably made just up the river from here. This is a chemical corridor up river from here :(

Dropped all the water out yesterday to prevent it freezing up.

It's time to go do things to mine today
Sumpgasket leaks better fix that
Cotter pins need replacing everywhere
Exhaust manafold is loose
Fuel line cracked
Oil line cracked
Need to remove the handbrake and housing to remove a gasket
Then wireing need to do some work to it
Fit new alternator

I better get started that's a list lol

Well, I bought a "rebuilt' steering column from eBay, the sell is supposedly a column expert.... at least he painted it. the threads on the directional signal switch were stripped, the threads on the tilt column socket were all buggered up. rod for ignition switch bent. A full day wasted taking it apart and ACTUALLY rebuilding it.
Live n' Learn.
Went to install it and found that the reproduction steering shaft was :dung:. Omix strikes again, what passes for splines look more like a nervous Hyena with a scribe did them.

Lance

Wow you didn't send it back? Out of curiosity who was the seller?

Repaired the steering wheel where the threads had come loose.

Hedge, is that can plastic? I have had conventional plastic cans leak. Not sure if you want to write that off as one that got through quality control. I have a couple of steel Blitz cans that are many years old with no leaks yet but do replace the cap gaskets every now and then.
