Last night I started tearing into my intake manifold replacement project. I got a lot done and tagged wires and lines.

I hope to have the intake and valve covers off tonight. Will hot-tank and paint covers and new intake is aluminum.

Don't forget to order an oil fill tube unless you have a way of removing the old one. The Edelbrock manifold does not come with one, and most of the aftermarket tubes are 1 1/4", the AMC ones are 1 1/2". Galvins AMC parts has them for $35 + S&H.

Thanks! I just hope it now runs as good as it looks!
I told my wife it's going to be really difficult for me, the first mud hole we encounter, to cross or not to cross, that will be the question!:D

I think I might avoid the first several mud holes when mine is finished painted and powder coated

I have that issue every time i finally clean all the mud off and out... I swear I'll stay out of it from then on, until I see the next hole... lol

Looking great bud! :notworthy:

First time in 15 years my steering linkage is hooked up and working right, maybe one day I will even get the power steering pump hooked up that would be nice

And I wish there was a way to swap the AMC logo for the Chrysler one - buts it's in the silver in on the back of the glass. May hafta cut a couple outta vinyl...

back up lights on the top?

Yeah those are the reverse lights. I wanted them on bottom but the gas plastic piece that holds the fuel hose didn't allow for enough room. Sorry for just now responding..

That's where mine are too:

With the rack and gas tanks on though, hard to see them... Even with a upskirt shot... lol

Not sure long term what, if anything, I'll do about that yet...

Slap a stick on wide angle mirror over the Fiat surrogate logo. It really would make a the mirror function better.

lol I didn't really take a tire carrier into account. I guess I'll figure something out for that later. Do your reverse lights put out plenty of light? I haven't tested mine but am not expecting much..

Are those YJ mirrors? And your dog looks just like my sons, is it a Great Pyrenees?

Yup - came on a nice set of half doors...... and yes, you are correct - a Pyrenees indeed. We have two of em. Luckily, since we wound up with the second one they didn't hit the upper end of their size range...

Not today, technically, but when you work nights things are different...

Finished the long block assembly by checking piston-valve clearance for the new cam, installing lifters, head, and rockers, and started masking for paint.

Brought dash into my shop today and installed the rebuilt harness I got from eBay. Tomorrow, we install the newly redone dash, and rebuilt the under-dash AC unit.

Today I pulled my intake manifold and valve covers. I removed all the fittings I need for the new intake. Then I bagged up everything to be hot tanked and sandblasted Monday. Only thing left to remove is the bottom shield from the old intake that bolts to the new one. Gasket surface cleaning tomorrow and Monday. Hope to start install Tuesday.
