Thanks guys

I replaced the windshield cowl gasket. I was pretty thrilled because i found an OEM replacement from Fairchild Industries so I did not have to go with Crown or Omix. As I suspected, water was getting in and the gasket had a couple of breaks but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I cleaned up the rust, painted the rusty spots with combination rust stop/primer and put the new gasket in. It was super tight when I flipped the windshield up which is a good thing in my book.

The back side of the dashpad had some rust on it as well so I took that off and cleaned it up as a new dashpad doesn't fit into the budget right now. I also added some weathert strippin around the doors in hopes that it seals better there too. Time will tell on that one.

I was going to replace the windshield gasket itself but after some research and reading some posts on here and other forums I decided to take it to a glass place and have that done so it won't be my fault if they break the windshield. I am not an expert glass guy by any means to begin with.

We loaded the CJ on the trailer for the trip from our cabin to our home in SE Wisconsin. We have been here over a month. Didn't finish the new siding, but did install a new furnace. And the battery on the CJ is dead and needs to be replaced. It's been cold and snowing with more expected and we have the truck that we don't drive in the snow.

Probably a good thing somebody is keeping a eye on you :) it's great you were able to find a OEM seal that doesn't happen every day.

Did a rear main seal last spring on this AMC 304 and found some nylon pieces when I dropped the pan and figured it had the original timing set.

Last night I pulled the timing cover and found the original nylon tipped cam sprocket.

Plenty of slack on this chain, nylon has chipped off, and the cam sprocket is out of alignment. Found a bunch more pieces between the block and pan.

I recommend buying an Edelbrock timing set unlike most they have the cam sprocket oil notch in the proper alignment and no need to enlarge the notch. Yes, they cost more but IMO worth it.

I installed the new timing set and will button it up tonight.

Not buying it... she's out of town.

Put a fancy new dual diaphragm brake booster and new MC to round out my front disc brake conversion. Just need to make a little adjustment on the adjutable pin that attaches to the brake pedal because it sits a little high and the stroke is shorter than what I was used to with the old system. I imagine I'll have to fiddle with the brake light switch as well. Overall, I'm happy with the upgrade. I don't notice a difference between the OE style booster and this one, but there is a huge difference in braking with the discs up front.

Got a start in replacing my suspension with a new 2.5" kit from BDS. Got the front done and started on the back and plan on finishing today.

Finished installing my new BDS 2.5" inch lift. Predictably, Household 6 complained that now it is even harder to get into than before despite the step up bar on the sides. Now I have to start getting the parts for my spring project, a bigger gas tank.

This is what I made for wifey. Drill a couple holes and thread a rope through it. Works great.

I want to live to retirement. LOL. My wife has zero sense of humor about her height even though she is 5'8' and pretty tall for a woman.

I gotta give her credit though, She got in there and helped me finish putting the suspension on because my son had to work on the second day. She is a trooper.

I installed a lower heater hose on a 75 V8.

If you want to force a 5/8” hose on a 3/4” diameter water pump nipple or cut the hose and use adapters grab yourself a $10 hose and have at it.

However, if you want to use the correct 5/8” hose that has the correct 3/4” end then use the part number below. Jeep no longer makes them but ford does. Yes, they cost more ($27 @ Napa) but worth the clean look while eliminating potential leaks IMO.
