What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I have some moth balls in the cargo area. They seem to find them tasty. I have not heard of the dryer sheet trick, I may have to try that.

I am Limited as to what I can do right now with my arm in a sling from shoulder surgery.

Dry potato flakes, they eat it and drink water and explode. I've been sprinkling it around and it seems to work. L8R ZFLASH

Break the filters off those Marlboro's and teach 'em to smoke.

Got her some new shoes and took her to get inspected.

Well, this is the beginning of the annual jeep emissions struggle for the 2019-2020 driving year. I don't need any advice, I know what needs to be done. We don't have the ultra serious regulations they have i California, but we do need to have most of our ducks in a row. For the last 12 months I fell out of the habit of driving my CJ, so it essentially sat for all that time, in the hot Arizona sun without a refreshing drink of new fuel. We all know that sort of neglect leads to poor carboration with gunked up jets.

So, under the hood I go, Off comes the Motorcraft 2150. She wasn't as bad off as I'd feared. She didn't get a complete rebuild. Rob down at Willys Works had a rebuild kit instock and 2 types of spray carb cleaner. Some jet cleaning, a few new gaskets and just because a new power valve later and the CJ was up and running.

I did use something I've never used before. Along with a can of fairly normal carb cleaner Rob suggested an AC Delco product that is designed to clean carbon from the intake side of the engine. I expected the usual spray while the engine is running, white smoke and that would be about it. Imagine my surprise when the stuff came out the consistency of whipped cream. This is something different. Idle the engine up a little, spray this whipped cream stuff all around until the can is empty. When the can was empty shut the engine off, wait for 5-10 minutes. Then start the engine, run for 2 minutes all the while blipping the throttle. ..... What did I experience. The white smoke was expected, but this smoke was a whole different breed of cat. It was thick, it smelled horrible, the smoke hung around for a long time and Michael was upset for his neighbors. The CJ smoked long after the 2 minutes of throttle blipping requited. ...... Oh yeah, the CJ seemed to run well after the work. One thing I can say about this AMC 360, the old girl really wants to run.

I need to try that just to irritate the neighbors........ think it’ll smoke longer with a AMC 304 seein how it ain’t as burly???

Seriously - remember the name of it?

It's :
Manufacturer: ACDELCO

Name on the can:Carburetor Tune-up Conditioner

Other numbers on the can: X66-A, 12302498

Net Weight: 13 oz (368g)

This stuff is aggressive, don't use it in a garage or where your exhaust will hit a wall. :) Icky black difficult to remove goop will be splattered all over. If your
engine has carbon build up there is no reason why a little AMC 304 (joke, a AMC 304 is not small for a CJ) wouldn't benefit from this product.

Hey H H long time no see. Glad to see you are still around. Do you think that stuff would work around here for Mosquitos ?

We love skeeters down here on the coast. They keep all the pilgrims living inland instead of down here. It's like lemons and lemonade.

Mosquitos ..... :) ..... now thats funny. Yeah, I bet it would, but enough of that smoke just might kill you as well. It was nasty, I could smell it all night.

Got the Jeep ready for the tow behind my RV to our new home in Springfield, MO.
PRK can KMA, as we leave on 11-2.
There's no SMOG tests in Springfield......

Well congratulation to you guys.

Wow LG now you can go play all you want in that snow for months at a time! Should be able to find 4 wheeling opportunities there. Good luck!

Plenty of jeeping and shooting there.
Can't wait to see PRK in my rearview mirror.

Lumpy and others - I must be flying under a blessed cloud this year. After doing a quick and dirty jet cleaning and replacing the power valve (why not it comes with a rebuild kit, besides they say the 2100 series carbs power valves are very sensitive to popping back through the carb) on the 2150, the old girl passed emissions on the first try. I was stunned, but pleased that Saturday was not a waste of time.
