What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Decided to run it up the highway and check out it's road handling after the additions and stopped into a truck weigh scale for giggles. I was curious to see how much a hardtop and steel doors changed things. With nearly a full tank of gas (about 100 pounds) and the hi-lift jack (about another 45 pounds) and it came out at 3740 pounds. Who new? I was thinking it was going to blow past 4000, Pleasantly surprised. Looks like I'll be towing it to Moab. As much as I enjoy driving the jeep, the Suburban will make the trip much more pleasurable. I'll also be able to get it home if something "unplanned" happens. Peace of mind vacationing

New front bumper. She's slowly taking shape.

. I want to know if they are capable of applying those locking knobs to them. Locked inside the hardtop I probably don't need them but it sure would be nice for those putting it in a soft top or attached to a scrambler.
Sorry I didn't get this done sooner. I had to replace a valve cover seal and my mind got hijacked. I'm calling this 3/8 inch. If the locking knobs come in that diameter then that should be a go. It sure beats mounting the hi-lift anywhere else

Started yesterday with trying to figure out why my phone would not charge in the Jeep. The lighter thingy had power but the connection was not good between that and the phone charger. Didn’t realize I could get new guts for the lighter and got that and now charger is working. Then saw when the ignition is on the back up lights are on. Could not find a Transmission back up light switch for T-176 anywhere in the whole area. Ordered one on Amz. My tachometer was working yesterday in the morning then stopped. Took the driver seat out and crawled up under the dash. Think there might have been a loose connection because that’s working now. So all is pretty good. Time for a ride with my daughter and killer out to the lakefront

Well everyone enjoyed the ride. Even Rubi enjoyed flapping her ears in the wind. BE0A497F-0A88-4BE2-AA7B-424E921C8962.jpeg1D571F90-D0FB-4F15-9C23-0F2CBAAC6DE0.jpeg7C2D2385-B174-431A-80F4-97BBD4B0A69C.jpeg99922EDD-A584-4FFC-8EB0-91A271900AF4.jpeg1665EB0F-57C1-4868-B131-A20EEA9A6DB8.jpeg

20 plus inches of snow here so naturally I had to start it up and go have coffee and bs with the local rednecks at the Road Kill diner. Took it out of 4 paw drive and went snow bashing didn't get stuck, I do love those expensive Tru Trac diffs!

We gave up on snow sometime back and are working on tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers around here.

Heck Ya! Took the Cj to work today on a beautiful 70 degree day. Perfect Jeep weather.

put about AMC 150 miles on it today. Things seem to be coming back to normal. Replaced the turn signal flasher. The fact I may be overlooking is that the painting was delayed a few weeks because of sub-zero weather. The jeep sat idle, un-started, for 57 days while the suspension was worked on, new metal parts were painted and cured, and a winch installed. I gave the battery a good exercise today and a chance to recharge. Everything seems to be working within normal limits this afternoon. Fingers crossed..... I'm still considering a second battery or a disconnect between the battery and the winch.
I'm going double battery with a disconnect/separator 2nd battery setup for solar charging. going to do a hood mount solar setup with thin flexible solar panel in the raised center section of the hood.
edited to add: Kinda excited, I think the odometer will roll to 118k today. That's significant because it has been on 117k for over 14 years waiting to be rebuilt!!

Today I'm just going cruising on forest roads, shaking it down still but it has resumed (nice day) commuting & tonight were meeting up with the local jeep club for ice cream =)AAB2D671-DBBF-4622-9C55-34595D5042EF.jpeg

The grin says it all, looks like you're ready to enjoy it again! Have fun! That is, after all, what it's all about.

130 jeep miles and changed the oil and greased it. :cj7:

Still testing out the Jeep some after the rebuild and getting ready for a couple of weeks of wheeling and camping up in the Smoky mountains area of N. Carolina. Killer and I out in the Mississippi River spillway area. The spillway wall on the right in one picture with the river on the other side and the local RC runway in the other picture. And Rubi enjoying the ride in the other picture 16CEB39C-DA46-472F-BC65-1677C251FE40.jpegAC7BFFCB-5AF1-4B50-A22E-48F97B973802.jpeg13C85050-064E-458F-9920-7E97B740F532.jpeg

Still chasing ground issues for led lights. At this point I'm tickled that I'm down to that level.
I changed the break-in oil, discoverd a new ground issue while talking to someone. The headlight & running light (pass side) went out. So I did what we do & banged on it & it came back onn lol.
My Sniper fi is still learning, I've d-loaded logs to have some friends look at them & teach me how to read them.
Re-installed the oem radio antenna, mounted a gps receiver to go to my dash cams, broke the 38 y/o hazard switch. Gotta grab a handful next trip to the junk yard (they screw off)
Realized, and grinned, that the whistling from the driver mirror (on & off thing for 38 years) is still there.. I'll get to it ;)
Discovered that there are blind spots everywhere behind me, compared to my '18 honda crv which basically drives itself having so many monitors and gadgets

Still no backup lights (led/ issue) for the turn signal thing which is replaced when you go to LEDs, is the left slot or right slot + or - ? I need to know the polarity of the fuse panel for where it plugs in. Research tells me some cj's had plus on left & others plus on the right. An adapter came with the flasher relay to reverse it because of this.
So much going on (ie hip replacement in a few weeks) that I haven't had the time to focus on that, anyone know offhand? I'm guessing grounding AND possibly reverse polarity are fighting me.
AND I've taken my best friend to the park in it a few times already 20230402_163927.jpg

I can answer this for him. No it isnt. He used that reverse camera on his phone so it does make it appear that way. Post 8130 of this thread shows a more accurate pic.
