I would think a kit is available? Yes?
I'm hoping it's just the mating flange gasket

So how did you find that jewel ? I like the shovel and the location of it. Out of the way.

It belongs to the Vietnam vet/POW that lives in a log cabin on the mountain by my house. I feel sorry for him and what he's been through. So I'm helping him get her road worthy again as he says it really helps keep his PTSD in check being able to drive it in the mountains.

The AX15 is installed and running well. Added a new clutch just because it seemed like time for replacement of the original. Shift bar placement is different so it sits in a different position on the tunnel. Makes my custom carpet a little askew but not that it bothers me. The hard part is getting use to the new shift knob. The threads on the original are course and the new one is fine so the familiar old knob is gone. The advertisement for Novak is another whatever but all of this is a no never mind to the joy of the new Transmission . No more T-5 slop. Each shift is crisp and clean. Every gear except 4th has a new ratio. Much more zip and higher MPHs in each gear producing better overall RPMs. I'm Happy!20230915_184926.webp

Sounds like a great improvement. In hindsight I should have done that instead of finding and reworking a T-176 , it was improvement over the T-4 which actually worked well for 37 years and over 238,000 miles. Just wish I had the 5 speed.

You can tap the threads and put the old nob on or what ever nob you like. As far as the ax15 what motor and axle ratio are you running?

I'm currently running a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .030 over T-5 and 3.23 (3.43? Stock ratio for 83 Renegade ) and I've been considering the ax15 swap

Yah, Out hear in the Rockies, going from point A to point B has a bunch of miles associated with it. Fifth gear was a must have for the open road. Keeping the rpm's between 2400 and 2600 keeps that newly remanned AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l around for a while longer.

With your set up, at 70mph, your rpm's are around 2685. My set up, at 70 mph's, puts me at around 2567. Not a lot of difference. And a re-read I find it should have read here not hear. My fingers move to fast for my old brain sometimes :)

going to 33's will produce 2523 rpm's at 70. Either one of those isn't too shabby. I like the looks of the 33's but buying 5 does take a bite into the wallet. I keep testing my wife's patients talking about getting 35's but I believe the Dana 30 front axel would probably malfunction in a glorious way if I did. I'm happy with the way it is set up now.

My speedometer actually fluctuates some so I put an app on my phone for mph and it’s right on the mark with my Toyota for accuracy. So in my Jeep. At 2000 rpm I’m doing 50 mph. 2500 rpm 60 mph and at 3000 rpm it’s 70 mph.

I have often wondered about the general accuracy of those calculator apps. It does seem to represent my values but I can't believe it is a one size fits all kind of a deal. Someday I'll have to break down and spend the money for an oem tach and drill a hole in my dash for it. Too much like work at the moment. I don't like the appearance of the after market, attach it where you want, type stuff.

Before I took it out my rpm camevia my handheld for my sniper EFI kit

I did the hole in the dash thing. Added a small VDO tach.

Good Morning

I have been running 35's w/4:56's ARB's and Chrome Mollie's on my Dana 30 and AMC20 's without any issues at all. I have a AMC 304 V8, SM420, Twin Stick Dana 20 w/Teraflex Lower Gear.

The axels would probably give some insurance to the possibility. After the AX15 purchase and install, my access to further funding is greatly curtailed. I'll be on good behavior for some time to come. Straight from the bosses mouth. Like it the way it is because that's the way it is.

Got the m38a1 running and purring like a kitten with a single turn of the key. Next is to get her on the lift and see what is going on with the brakes. I'd post a video of it running but I don't know how with Tapatalk
