What did you do to or with your CJ today?
got the brakes bled again, after i replaced a broken line. still have a weak pedal. goes pretty close to the floor. thinking i might need to adjust the pushrod in the master, but not sure. also got the wheels on and put it on the floor for the first time in months. next up is the leaking Transmission , then the motor mounts, then exhaust, seatbelts, ect, ect. when will this end?

Replaced the light in my steering column. Ive got the auto shifter in the column and haven't been able to open the gear dial before tonight. Bulb is a 1445 for those that might need that info later. ;)

Rebuilding the Emergency brake is next.

I hope you all won't think less of me but, I washed it.

Got the perches and other junk cut and ground off the 8.8 today.
I also got some measurments off the factory LS so I can set the detroit up.
The daughter and her family are comming to town. So I won't get much more done this weekend.

I have not been able to lower my tailgate the whole time I have owned my CJ7 so today I removed the hinges and soaked them in WD-40 then put the small side in a vise and took a hammer and broke them loose. After a while of moving them back and forth I bolted them back on and for the first time I can drop the tailgate and sit on it :) and the scary thing is I didn't break our damage one bolt our break a hinge

got my selector shaft seal replaced without removing my 999 Transmission or dropping the valve body. no more puddles on my garage floor:chug: then i drove it out of my garage for the first time in 6 months.

Got a few things cleaned up this weekend...

Painted the PSC Power Steering Box

Sandblasted Frame and primered

Sandblasted and painted the springs. Waggy fronts and YJ rears.

Hell, I wash mine just about every day. With all the giant moths and other bugs I've been tagging on my way in to work in the mornings, I wouldn't be able to see out the windshield if I didn't!

finally got the brakes sorted out. adjusted the push rod and shazam, i have brakes. amazing. next up is the removal of the solid motor mounts and the solid Transmission mount, and replace one of the front turn signals. then register it

I got the dash mounts for the front sport cage welded, painted and back on. You may notice that the platforms are not horizontal? They are the same angle as the windshield. the ends of the cage will be cur square and the joint will be bolted with a 3/8 grade 10 bolt. figure that will be about as strong an the three 5/16 machine screws that hold it to the dash. I think I am going to be able to threw bolt it to the existing roll bar as well. that should make putting it on a lot easier.

Pics???????? :D

I shortened a double cardan front driveshaft out of a Cherokee so I can use it in the rear of my CJ. I'm waiting on the new yoke to arrive so I can install it.

And my new Aussie Locker arrived for the front axle. I'll be installing that this weekend. I also just ordered a pair of solid 1 piece axles for my AMC20 .

One of my other current projects is a 3" diameter cold air intake. I know, I know, that's kind of "Ricer" to be on an old CJ, but I6 engines don't have much room for an air filter on top of the carb because of the stock power brake booster. I'm planning to go to a YJ dual diaphram booster that's even bigger, so I needed to make room for it.

To cut down on the ricer look, I sanded the polished aluminum tubes and painted them with black wrinkle engine paint. I also engineered my own boot that bolts to the carb in place of the old air filter for the new filter assembly to attach to. I also painted that with black wrinkle paint. It should look good, and it doesn't hurt that it'll be bringing in cooler air from behind the passenger head light instead of hot air directly over the exhaust manifold and behind the radiator fan. I'll post pics when it's done.

Grinded down some rust on the hood, then came back with some POR-15 then cleaned out some cobwebs. Having a blast!!

Nice! Wish I could just mount extra support from there, but with my fiberglass tub, my roll bars need to be tied into the frame.

changed all four shocks. PO had put the old ones on upside down.
Boy what a difference in handling and ride.

Picked up a YJ tub and continued tearing down the CJ for the swap. 4 body mounts are being a total PITA so I'm taking a break and working on all the interior stuff. I think I'm just going to cut the body from the top in order to access the spinning capture nuts. Great weekend in store!

finished making a bracket to convert my b and m floor shifter that the po installed to a column shift. had original column shift in the jeep when i got it, just wasnt hooked up to anything

Just cut the bolts through the body mounts with a saws all. I can't imagine the rubber or the bolts are worth saving.
