What did you do to or with your CJ today?
:)Building some rock guards for the sides of my old CJ5 ...........but more importantly using these as out board supports to tie in my down tubes on the roll cage. Previously they just tied into the sheet metal floor and fender tubs.
Getting older and smarter!

Got my new 1 piece axles installed in the AMC20 . I also got the steel tubing bend to make a truss. I'll find time in the next few weeks to cut it to shape and get it welded up.

I havent been around in a while but here goes. New clutch kit, valve cover gasket, water pump gasket, timing chain gasket and front seal, thermostat housing gasket.
This is on my 85 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .
I would like to meet the guy who designed the timing cover. Took longer to put that on than putting the engine in and lining up the clutch.

Got my cylinder head dropped off at Competition Machine in Spring, Texas for a complete rebuild, and while it's out got the fire wall repainted a high-temp gloss black.

Installed our new Bestop sport reclining seats. Do sit taller than worn out stock ones. Going on jeep ride round mtn roads later tonight. BEST TIME TO. DO 35MPH AND GET AWAY WITH IT LOL....

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Those seats look nice!

Cleaned and rejetted the carb, started to strip the doors on the 8 and took a long, relaxing drive! :chug:

Did that fix the carb issues? What jets did you use?

Didn't change much - I believe there is a blockage in the power valve circuit, I'm gonna soak it (the carb body) in my carb cleaning fluid for a day or so.

I took the old girl for a two hour road trip past Fort Scott Kansas to Kansas Rocks Offroad Park with the Kansas City Northland Jeepers. :D

Took the 44 in to have the OX installed. I hate having others work on my machinery but this seems like a good move. This is going to be the mother of all axles and the single most expensive component on the entire CJ.:jeeplove:

New Trail top from Best Top delivered today. The thing is, being here on the East Coast, having the Bikini top has become a "wet liability." Since I have no rust whatsoever, I needed to treat my baby like the "Iron man" that he is....meaning, had to cover him up. Like it. Fits well. Pictures to follow. Thought the fitment would be a problem, given that it was pictured on a TJ. But, no! Works great. Thunderstorm tomorrow, I will let you know.

Started to change a u-joint in the front driveshaft, found that the pinion is turning really hard.:(
Going to tear it apart this weekend (I need new axle seals anyway) to see whats going on, hoping its not the carrier bearings or the truetrak.
This has been a really bad year so far.

drive it brake it fix it, drive it brake it fix it.

it's what we do.

Tarry, you are talented in the art of metal works!

Kinda sad...

Sold the CJ yesterday.

I miss it already and there is some second guessing.

Good thing, I really like the guy that bought it and I know he loves Jeeps and will take care of it.

Ordering the 2013 Wrangler this week.

Although CJ's will always be my first love, the family had just out grown it. When the Kids move out and I am retired, I may well get another....

Got it all tore apart this morning, found a fried spindle bearing, and an inner wheel bearing on the verge of going out. At least it will be a cheap fix. Now to clean all the greese and dirt off everything and get it put back together.:)
