What did you do to or with your CJ today?
drove it to work the other day, first time since the last trail ride.
Noticed it was wanting to dog walk a little.
Took it apart to find that the spring bolt had sheered it's head off in the spring perch.
I decided to go ahead and change the bushings while it was apart.
Took it for a ride and hit some pot holes, now to retorque the u-bolts.

Did you go back to 33's?

It has the 33's on it in that pic. as I was planning to drive it on the road a bit before the next trail ride. Glad I did or I wouldn't have found the busted center pin.
The 35" claws suck on the road. :D

Put in a new dipstick; no idea where the one that shoulda been in the slide tube went. Advance Auto had a really UGLY one made of recycled beer cans for $8.59, with no tube. O'Reilly's had a chromed tube and decent diptick for smallblock Chevy (P/N 6255) for $9 bucks. A drive to NAPA woulda used a gallon of fuel and NAPA would have charged me shipping from their warehouse in New Orleans. No contest!

I want 33's, sick of manhandling 35's

I drove it for a while this morning. Things I noticed: the rear brakes lock up before the front , need to look into the adjustable valve for the rear. The new skyjacker nitro shocks make turns at speed a lot more stable, I think I like this part , very much. I am getting used to the power steering. I like the new seats. I lost my favorite Jeeping hat to the wind and the highway, Daughter brought it back to me from Glen Canyon dam, Watched in the rear view as the guy behind me ran over it and it blew farther toward the middle of the 4 lanes. should never get too attached to material things but it still pisses you off. Now, to put the 33s on it and see how it drives.:D

Gator, let me know how you like them! I'm getting ready to do the same, though mine will be a large "kit" for my year.

Big improvement. I got it put togather enough to take it for a short test drive. There a 100 yard stretch of road by my place that about throws me from the jeep. With the new OME YJ springs I just float right through. Now to work out the little things like drive shaft angle, brake line is to short and tie rod ect. I know its only two inch lift but I feel like ducking when airplanes fly over.:D

Nice!

This is the kit I got. Has shocks, brake lines, etc... everything I'll need. I already had tie rod flip kits, and will just have to re-do driveshaft angles (though already doing that since doing SM420 swap at the same time...)

YJ Spring Conversion: 1955-1975 CJ to YJ Spring Conversion

good to hear you liked the springs!

Well, I replaced the gas filler and vent hoses. That is not as easy as I thought it would be, but I am finished.

"That is not as easy as I thought it would be"

IO's second law, "nothing is ever as easy as it first looks."

finished bolting down ammo can console and installing lock. Seems like the company posted a no guns in company buildings. Good thing the state of TN says us permit holders can keep it out of site and locked in our vehicles and the boss can't stop me. :D

Dropped it off at the muffler shop. New duel exhaust going on and solving some exhaust leaks.

Also getting a custom Transmission tunnel / cover made to fit the SM 420. It will be nice to get it sealed up.

Easy? ! ? ?
It looks like you laid the soft top on the ground and then set the jeep upside down on the soft top. There's an easier way.[/QUOTE]
